Slightly loose fitted slide, that and the integral feed ramp on the barrel may be how this pistol feeds many different shapes of bullets, right out of the box. The trigger has a little drag, and could use a little hand fitting, but for the price I expected as much. Might be a great 1911 for those with dexterity issues, as the recoil spring is light allowing easy manipulation of the slide.
Shot with acceptable accuracy with a variety of jacketed, plated and cast bullets. Not a match gun but a low recoil, light carry piece.

This was my first ever handgun purchase. Great trigger. I have shot 200 rounds through it in the first week of ownership. No malfunctions to date. Just learned how to shoot a pistol. All shots at 50 feet were in the black right out of the box using Winchester white box ammo.

I carried a 1911 for a living in the Army, and wanted one for old times sake. The SR1911 has all of the modern updates while still looking and feeling like the service piece I remember. The fit and finish are top notch for the price level (well, any price level) The hand fitted parts are well done, the finish of the frame is absolutely amazing. The checkered wood grips are first rate as well.
A vigorous shake will only illicit the faintest rattle just like it should be. Ruger intends this gun to be run dry, and guns that don't rattle usually need to be wet for best results. I've run it clean and dry as recommended for up to 500 rounds at a time. Not a single malfunction.
From 10 yards off-hand it can put all rounds of cheap target ammo into a single 2 inch hole. Down to an inch if you take your time. I highly recommend this pistol!

I purchased the SR1911 Commander, CT Laser Grips in Stainless Steel, which I think is a Cabela's exclusive. Like most 1911's, it is easy to use. I tried several different types of ammo off the shelf, and had no FTF or FTE.
The only issue I had was that the trigger pull was a bit heavy, but very usable for a carry gun,

I have put ~250 rounds of 230 grain FMJ ammo through the Ruger. It has performed flawlessly even though it is still in what would be considered the break in period for a 1911 pattern pistol. I has shown good accuracy in my just returned to shooting hands. I need a lot of work, but I'm consistently getting 25 shot 5" groupings at 5 yards. The gun shoots better than I do.

This was my first 1911. What a great gun ! You just can't miss with this and Ruger did a fine job. I loved the 1911 platform so much I went out and spent twice as much for a Kimber. The Ruger is a better gun, flat out. I have not had one issue with mine and don't quite understand the negative reviews on this site. Send the gun into Ruger if there are issues. They are great as I have had to deal with them in the past. They will go above and beyond. I just might get me another !

Bought this pistol and instantly wondered why I had waited so long. Great feel, extremely accurate, recoil is smooth but firm, not snappy or violent. I've put 200 rounds through it so far and it just feels better every shot. Very nice pistol for a great price and it compares well to the other brands that sell for 50% more. Plus you can't go wrong with Ruger's warranty.

I bought the SR1911 10mm when they first came out back in June of this year. I will have to say that this is one of my favorite handguns that I own (and I own a few). I added a tritium front night sight and the dark wood grips with Ruger logo medallion along with a flared magazine well. Accuracy of this gun is amazing. I am consistently shooting quarter to half-dollar size groups at 10 yards with it using Sig Sauer 180gr ammo. I plan to carry this handgun as a hunting sidearm as well. I am a big fan of Ruger and have always had good results from any and all of their products I own or have owned through the years. Being a fan of 10mm, I had been looking at the other high-end 1911 10mm's for some time, but just didn't feel good about letting go of that much $$$ for it. But as soon as Ruger released the SR1911 10mm and they were available for purchase, I didn't have to even think about it. Another excellent American-made firearm from Ruger!

Bought the LW Commander (6711) on 11/17/17. Folks at the gun counter were nice enough to let me examine several that were in the box. Judging by the test fired casings, all were manufactured early to mid 2015. I researched this model extensively and have carried the 1911 platform on and off for 30 years. Fit and finish was good compared to the Colt LW Commander which was a rattle-trap. I would have preferred more of a positive click when activating the thumb safety.
Took it home and cleaned it then went to the range. Roughly 200 rounds of various FMJ and HP were fired. Had a few failure to extracts with a bunch of failing to return to battery. The empty case mouths displayed a ding in the same spot so it makes me wonder if the round is hanging up somewhere in the feeding process. This happened with various quality magazines. Ejection was erratic as well. Upon cleaning at home, all of the grip screws had loosened and one would just spin and not tighten. This might be the grip screw or the bushing.
Before you quit reading and dismiss this as a biased review, I own 5 other Ruger firearms so I am not biased and like Ruger products. Heck, I named my dog Ruger!
As of today, the gun is boxed up and going back to Ruger for repairs. I spoke with Angie at Ruger and she was wonderful about addressing my concerns. I realize this model came out in early 2015 and Ruger has since made some changes such as they no longer have serrations on the front grip strap. All of the ones in the store had it, this with the fired casing shows they have been in the store for awhile. I will update this review as the status progresses.

I was expecting better. Maybe I should not have. My other 1911 is the SA Mil Spec. Both are priced much better than the high end models. The trigger is not smooth, it clicks twice before the hammer fall. And after 100 rounds, the firing pin spring is worn. So much so that the firing pin slams into the receiver and sticks in the taper. It isn't bad, this is what I picture with something like a $500 1911.

I purchased a model 6700 (full size 45) when they were first introduced because it was one of the few 1911 style pistols out there that was traditional. No recoil spring guide and no front slide serrations. These are personal preferences. The pistol was tight good slide fit to frame, barrel bushing fit and lock-up. This all before I left the store with the pistol. I purchased for personal defense and like the rear sight for carry. I'm a big guy and can get away with it. In first shooting the weapon I was impressed with the accuracy with an array of ammunition, ball, self defense hollow points, and cast lead target bullets. I'm an old bulls eye shooter and this pistol eats the center out of the targets at 25 yards right out of the box. With modern manufacturing methods the new 1911s are fantastic.

This is my first RUGER pistol I have bought. This is an outstanding firearm. The fit and finish is top notch. This pistol has the best trigger I have ever felt in a 1911 style pistol. RUGER claims a 4.3 pound trigger pull. I will say that is dead on. Smooth and crisp break. Shot 2 boxes of jacked hollow points trough it. The pistol functioned flawlessly! The 10mm is a tack driver. The pistol shoots very well, manageable recoil. Has a match grade, fully supported, ramped Bull barrel. Also has Titanium firing pin. The pistol is all stainless steel. Take down is a breeze. I highly recommend this pistol. I'll put like this, I will trust my life with this pistol! No cons to speak of. Go and buy it you will not be disappointed!

This was my first Ruger semi automatic pistol purchase. I have a few of there revolvers which are very good quality. The SR1911 in 10 mm however is not the same quality. The fit is good but the finish quality was average at best, it had 3 blemishes on it I buffed out. The front sight was drifted too far to the left. I have put 500 rounds of good quality 10mm both ball and hollow points and have yet to get a single magazine of ammo through this gun without a malfunction. The gun gets a failure to feed on every magazine, If I eject the magazine the round will chamber. The trigger is ok but not great compared to other 1911’s in this price range. I should have spent a little more and purchased a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm.

Bought this pistol about 6 months ago and fired 200+ rounds of four different kinds of ammo. It handled all of them perfectly. Accuracy was 10X out of the box with each kind of ammo. It looks beautiful and I can't say enough good things about this pistol. It was my first Ruger anything and now I favor Ruger over other brands on account of this pistol. BTW, the Bass Pro Shops salesman who worked with me was tops and he taught me things I didn't know about shooting a pistol.

This gun has some weight to it, but it is fun to shoot. It loves Federal HST ammo. I put about 300 rounds though and not a single issue. I tried 1 box of a lesser ammo and had 1 jam. Its accurate, its got a good look and if you want a 1911 because you like 1911's this is a great balance between a great gun and a good price.

I haven't had a 1911 for about 25 years. Been wanting another abd have done extensive research on the various majers and price ranges available. I am So happy I decided on this Ruger SR1911. Right out of the box after the initial check and cleaning, weightI took it to the range. After 300 rounds of 4 different types and weights of ammo, Im pleased to say that it handled All without a single malfunction. Also factory set sights are right on at 15 yards. This is a Very well constructed gun, dependable and accurate for a midrange price.
I feel very confident in it's dependability and have No problem betting my life on it.
As this is number 4 in my collection of Ruger firearms, I am well aware of Rugers dependability and quality as well.
