I have the 3.5" and have been shooting it for about a year now. I shoot it on a fairly regular basis with whatever ammo I find on sale. For my purposes it is a great little item. The interchangeable grip is nice, I am 6"2' and it feels good in the hand with the larger grip. The controls are a little funky to me, swipe up is hot, the DA trigger pull is pretty bad, and the SA trigger pull is alright but nothing to write home about. Only ammo issues I have had is with CCI Stingers and Rem Vipers, if I chamber one and do not fire it they tend to stick in the chamber when I rack the slide to clear it. Keep that in mind when unloading ALL THE TIME with this gun would be my advice. 100% do not recommend as a self defense piece but is a great one for target and a woods/fun gun. Shoot safe, Shoot Straight!

I like the feel of this gun as. It’s fun to fire. Out of the box the sights needed adjustment - fired high. Within first 200 rounds (I use CCI mini-mags) the gun jammed - round failed to chamber. I called Ruger and they said the .22 does that and if it does it more often, like every magazine, than return it. Uhhh, really?

I purchased one of these over three years ago for my wife to start shooting pistols. We have loved how fun this thing is. I have had a couple short cycles with the gun, but only when shooting the bulk cheap ammo. Very easy to use controls, nice trigger, and recoil is super light. If you are looking to introduce someone to the shooting sports, I absolutely recommend starting them on a .22. This little gun is great for learning, training, and just plain fun.

For the money, there are better options...
My first Ruger, and maybe my last. First impressions were OK, but after several magazines it started jamming and failing to feed (both Winchester and CCI). The feed ramp on the barrel needs to be polished (or cleaned off with your finger every few mags).
Be careful when cleaning the magazines. If you don't reassemble them exactly, they will fail to feed properly. The follower can go in several different ways.
The "no warranty" thing bothers me as well, though I have yet to need it.

I bought 2 of them and have had great results with them, most 22 autos will jam, I have not had any problems with these. I have shot good quality and cheep ammo in them and haven't had a jam yet. They shoot what you aim at too

Love this pistol!!! Shoots very accurately and smoothly. Big enough to fit in my big hands, but small enough to use as a carry gun concealed. Yes, .22 can be used as a carry gun. Trigger pull in double action is very smooth. Single action is crisp and light. Had my extractor pin break when shooting at the range (very rare for a Ruger), but Ruger is fixing it for free. They have a lifetime warranty and stand behind their products. My next purchase will be another Ruger!

I'm a big Ruger fan and own several of their rifles and love their revolvers. This gun is a mixed bag- but may be a good fit for some people. Likes- my reason for purchase was to teach my daughters how to shoot a semi-auto, for that it works pretty well. Reliability is more a function of the ammo, and the quality of the gun seems fine. Dislikes- I don't like magazine disconnect safeties, the decocker works fine, but the safety is counterintuitive (down for safe, up for fire), mag capacity should be more than 10. Now that my kids are older and have graduated to centerfire semi autos, I have no purpose for this gun. Will probably trade or sale soon.

I bought this as my first handgun. It turns out to be a great beginner handgun. It has a low recoil. Also I’m left-handed, and the gun is ambidextrous.

The version you're referring to could be the 3-1/2" barrel 'US version' (which is probably prohibited here anyways).
I believe that the 4-1/2" barrel version is also available in the US and there are numerous (non-Canadian) YouTube reviews for this.
(I apologize for the ***** review given, but this was a required entry)

So, after reading most of these reviews, I believe 99% of the naysayers would have complaints from the firearm to them as well, such as "Your improperly handling me & firm up a bit so I can cycle"

Took this pistol to the range and it was a real thrill to shoot it. I was very impressed with the accuracy, with a slight elevation adjustment. I would highly recommend this .22 to any shooters out there.

I bought it today and took advantage of BassPro free hour at the range and i really enjoyed shooting it,it felt like a more serious gun than it is,and it's fairly accurate, just a little high and to the right with the ammo i had,but i have to see how it shoots cci minimags before i make any adjustments

very happy with this gun. Feels good in the hand and great sights. I wasn't sure about this or the TX22 and choose this mainly because was in stock and on sale and no regrets.

The best test for any semi auto is if it’s reliable. This Ruger Sr22 sure is! I’ve always stocked up heavy on bulk Remington golden bullets… you know, the 36 grain hollow points sold in a bucket that jam and malfunction in lots of semi-auto 22’s. I like it cause it’s cheap and plentiful and I usually use a revolver and a lever gun. Bought this Ruger Sr22 and it works flawlessly in it as well. Accurate, reliable, easy to take down, and just plain fun! Highly recommended!

I got mine a couple years ago and have close to 9,000 rounds through it. It seems to run better than it was new. The only thing I’ve had to replace was the recoil spring which was getting weak. This thing feeds and cycles flawlessly, the only gun related failures I see are an occasional failure to fire on the first strike, I might reshape the firing pin to hit just inside of the rim to mitigate this.
I’ve got the new Sig p322 coming but doubt I’ll ever get rid of the SR22, it’s just too good.

This is the best .22 pistol I ever owned. It's easy to shoot and easier to break down for maintenance. This is a great starter pistol for a beginner or a great plinker for the experienced. The SR22 has a lot of safety features but none proved a hinderance. Get this one!

Slide does not stay open after the last round fired. Tried 4 magazines. Magazines don't mount tight enough. If you press hard on the bottom of the mag and hold it, then the slide stays open. This happened first time using gun. Called Ruger and they issued an RMA and label to send in for repair at their expense. Too bad. Not Cabelas fault, so no blame there.

Happy with my purchase. Gun is perfect size and weight. Handles well. Put about 60 rounds through it, no jams, dead on.

After First shot with MiniMags I had a jam. Cleared it and finished the 100 rounds without further problems. Very easy to handle and to load and shot very accurately. Crisp trigger when shooting single action. Double action not too bad.
