2 years agoReally like this wheel gun. I would have given it 5 stars if it came with the same hardwood grips the original model 648 came with. I bought this revolver because 22's are prone to jamming and miss fires when used in any semi auto firearm. The 22 cartridge was designed to be used in revolvers. I'm not a big fan of 22 long rifle but 22 magnum is a powerful and yet affordable cartridge to shoot. I was looking for a revolver and something different this Smith & Wesson model 648 was just the thing.

2 years agoHaven't had time to shoot yet, just cleaned it and put it away. I'm looking for Hogue grips for a K frame round butt stock.....only finding square butt grips. I polished it a little. It feels just like my 617s, but eight shoots instead of ten shoots.

1 year agoPurchased a new Smith & Wesson 648 from Sportsman’s Warehouse. The price was lowest I’d seen on this revolver, not inflated. There were no transfer or FFL fees. Just sales tax. The store set aside a couple of boxes of ammo, again at a normal price. I would certainly give Sportsman’s a look in the future when it comes to a firearms purchase.

1 year agoHard to find model that sportsman’s had in stock. I was excited to find one and the gun feels great. Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet but I’m sure I’ll like it because it’s good quality.

1 year agoWow this Smith and Wesson 648 22 magnum 6” barrel 8 shot revolver is the best gun I have ever owned! I listen to all the scuttlebutt about 6 in.² barrel being heavy which is total nine cents it is well balanced easy to shoot for a woman or a old man or any other person 6 inch barrel really steadies you aim! This is a powerful tac driver. If you can find one by it don’t even think about it just get it!

1 year agoFirst, I give S&W customer support a zero-star rating, however after a long story I give the gun a 5 star. I received the pistol 6 months ago and loved it, except it shot 4" high at 30 feet, even with the rear sight all the way down. I sent it back to S&W, 2 months later I get it back, still shoots 4" high at 30 ft. I sent it back again to...Read More Read more about review stating SMITH & WESSON 648

1 year agoLots of life remaining but some young rookie cleaned it with stainless steel wool. I've seen people do it before on brushed stainless steel ovens and such but this is polished stainless steel. I'm guessing the young officer had to pay a little out of her pocket. It's not even close to the example photo and certainly not within Guns dot com's condi...Read More Read more about review stating Was a nice gun at one point.

1 year agoMy initial reaction when I picked my Model 64-8 was that it wasn't as advertised. It was dirty, the grips were off, loose in the case. There is an armorer's stamp on the left, and the armor might have started drinking early that day, because they aren't neatly done. As I inspected it, it started to be a little less disappointed. The action was smo...Read More Read more about review stating The previous owner was not a gun guy

1 year agoThis revolver was like new. Firing pin is not attached to the hammer as in earlier models. Timing is very good due to the changes made to the cylinder, not sure I like the two piece barrel, one can not easily re-cut the crown which significantly improves accuracy in S&W revolvers. I've had some range time with it and even though the sights are...Read More Read more about review stating Police type 6 shot .38 Special +P

1 year agoVery well kept weapon. Obviously larger than my Chief Specials, but an excellent firearm and a very sweet price. It got my attention immediately! For several days I would go back and look and finally I said; "just get it before it gets away!" MRD

1 year agoI didn't really expect much for a used police trade in revolver for the this price. I was very surprised to find that my revolver showed up in excellent condition. It probably only has 200ish rds through it. The finish was perfect minus a small badge # engraving under trigger guard. Great buy!

1 year agoSomewhat happy with the revolver but would have liked to have seen in the description or pictures that these revolvers may have stamping on them. The stamping is pretty aggressive.

1 year agoHad been looking for this gun for almost a year. The price was right and the gun is everything I expected to be.

1 year agoYes, I am sure that I overpaid for this revolver, but it reminded me of my Grandfather's S&W nickel plated 38 special. I paid more for this revolver than my 686 Deluxe. It's a very tight gun, barely used and Cody's Pawn polished this till it looks like a nickel finish. The added Pearl grips sold me that this would be as close that I'd get to G...Read More Read more about review stating She's a beaut!!!

1 year agoItem delivery as advertised. Very well made firearm . Pleased with overall experience. Only caveat is the retailer charged $20.00 to complete the documentation .

1 year agoThe S&W model 638 best met my needs for a 22 mag revolver with 6” barrel for quality craftsmanship, holding future value, name recognition, and ease at red dot installation.

1 year agoSmooth shooter with low recoil, high quality fun, really would have liked a ten shot instead of 8 but it gets the job done, much better magnum option with it's weight feels like a 22lr, replaced front sight with high visibility green fiber, that greatly improves the gun although it is too high and you have to adjust the rear sight all the way up, I wear a large glove size with average size hands and it is a stretch to reach the trigger in double action, single action is awesome, this is a must
