pick up this yesterday 11/2/20 in 223 REM.
Saw the box had a hole. i felt it, it was the bolt knob sticking out bluing came off.
deep scratches on the stock below and left side receiver, dent on the rear of the tang.
I would have been happy w/ the the pillar bedding now I have to replace the stock.
this the ugliest tool i bought brand new.

I’ve had about 5 of these and I havE never had one that wouldn’t cut bullet holes with hand loads at 100 yards. One 22-250 had over 5000 rounds at prairie dogs and targets and still shoots a half inch. The 12 fv is better than other models because they eject spent brass. Other savage models won’t at all and I don’t know why. The ejector is a bad design but doesn’t effect accuracy.

I bought this rifle and was not pleased when I got home. looking down the bore it looked like it had a thousand rounds through it and never cleaned. I am sure this gun was used and then returned. Also the stock is very flimsy and needs to be replaced. I would have returned this gun but they shut the store down because of covid 19.

I love these rifles. I own two of them. I would buy them again. But you better look them over very closely before purchasing. Do not buy these without personally looking them over.

Had the gun for 2years now. Strictly varmint hunting 200 -500 yd range. Top this gun with a 6.5 x 24 Vortex and you've got one heck of a combo. Off the shelf ammo rated at 4000 fps jumps up to 4300 with the extra length of the barrel. A legit tack driver.

I bought this rifle about a month ago and got it out to the range the first time a week ago. After dialed in at 100 yards is was consistently grouping at <1.75". The weight of this rifle (10lbs with scope) is great for .308 Win as it helps very much with the recoil. Trigger is great and bolt is IMO as good as the best I have tried. You will not be disappointed with this rifle for target shooting or hunting as long as the properly supported.

Ordered this online because the store had none. It took over 60 patches and 2 hours to get the carbon and copper out of the barrel. This gun had been shot more than a test fire at the factory.
In received the email to pick it up about a week after ordering. Drove 35 miles one way to pick it up only to be told it wasn’t there yet and I had to wait for a call. Called myself a week later and it was finally there. They never let me look at the gun in the store.
Gun does not have a regular spring and follower in the mag well. It is more of a built in magazine. I bought the gun with the intent of building a 17 fireball with it. Will have to see if the built in mag will work or if I need to do some modifying.
Took it to the range and shot about 40 rounds with different loads. Shot real good with a 55 grain bullet. Only took about 10 patches to clean after I shot it. Really made me wonder how shots were fired through the gun before I got it.
I see in the reviews that I am not the only one to get one that dirty.

Own 3 in this model. They all shoot have consistently averaged 0.8” out of the box. Consider each purchase a project. Each will require the trigger polishing, a more secure stock (preferably bedded), and some TLC with a file to address the machining burrs left by the factory on the tang. What you will end up with is a solid dependable rifle that will consistently shoot 0.6” groups (perhaps better with some experimentation). This is exception for a rifle at this price point. Whether it’s paper, chucks, or steel at 1k - this series of rifle will meet your expectations.

I bought a pair of these in the 22 250 and 308 and I bought them for the model 12 action alone and would have paid the same price for the actions without the stocks that I took off and through away soon as I got them home. Once I got the actions bedded in decent stocks they are sub Moa easily. Fantastic project rifles that shoots as well as rifles 3 to 4 times the price. I screwed a dowl rod into one stock and the grandkid had a new rifle too!

With 168 SMK's federal GMM my .308 m12 fv will perform right around .2 moa center to center @ 100 yards 5 shot groups. Factory rifle. Factory ammo. Hard to complain there .75 ctc with hunting ammo. Federal 175gr terminal ascents.the Federal fusions 180gr will shoot around 1/2 moa.

Picture says it all. Got one in .308 and topped it with a midrange Vortex scope. Smooth action and good trigger.

I bought two of these a couple weeks ago (6.5 Creedmoor and 308 Winchester) fit and finish was above expectations really like the stock going to keep them both as is no need to upgrade stock etc.

I have owned many Savage rifles from the 80's to present in various calibers from 22 Hornet up to a 300 Win Mag. I have yet to have one that will not shoot well. Break the barrel in properly with proper cleaning tools and techniques and you can shoot a clover leaf very frequently at a 100 yds and an MOA or less and beyond if you tune the load to the rifle and are a re-loader. That is not any different than any other rifle. The barrels are not as smooth as premium barrels like a Shilen and will foul more. I use moly coated bullets because of that.. Just yesterday as an example with a 204 Ruger and 39 gr Blitz Kings, was shooting 3 shot groups in a tight 1/4 inch group. I have a 243 that will do an inch group at 400 yards with 90 gr Bergers. I hunt varmints mostly. Yes the stocks are something to be desired so restock it with one of your choice. I prefer wood, bed the action and float the barrel. The triggers are fine if you tune them or have a professional tune it for you. Put a good scope on it and you can see the results. Barrel changes are easy with the proper tools with reputable barrel makers that pre-fit, chambered, and you are capable, otherwise let a qualified gunsmith do it for you. I convert most of mine to a single shot except those with detachable mag or internal mag I choose to keep. I don't have feed or eject issues. Price for the value is good. I don't see the 12 FV's in Savage's line up any more.
Lastly, I have always had great service from both Savage and Cabelas/Bass Pro

In the box the box this rifle looked new. Once I had it home and looked further the bolt face looked like 100’s of rounds through it and the barrel was very dirty.
The rifle shoots great. I just wonder how it got so dirty and how many rounds are really on it.

Bought it in the summer to build a custom .308 rifle. Mounted it on a MDT ESS chassis with a Burris XTR-II 5-25x50 scope. Perfect action & barrel for my purpose.

Very hard to beat this value for a target rifle. Bought one in 308 Win during summer of 2021 on sale. Using Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr ammo, I punched 5 rounds into 9/16" at 100 yards. It opened up a bit to 1 & 3/8" at 200 yards. I can't wait to see what it'll do when I get to a longer range. One warning, buy it or pick up in store. Upon inspection I found the first rifle I picked up had a burr on the crown. I'm glad I rejected it and chose the one I took home instead.

I find everything about this rifle unattractive from its head space barrel nut to its stock made from recycled lunch boxes and don’t forget that trigger.
Now that everyone knows not to expect miss September, here’s the good news.
- The price is right!
- The accuracy is excellent
- The trigger breaks like a pregnant wife’s temper.
I bought this rifle to point and shoot and i can do it with confidence. 6.5 creedmoor is already a low recoiling round and the weighty barrel helps some more. I can shoot it all day.
Impressive enough with Hornady 95gr Varmint
And 120gr Sako .

i bought this 2 weeks ago now in 6.5cm, couldnt be happier, i got a mdt 20 moa one piece rail, a burris ev scope and a few boxs of herters ammo and headed to my range. i have zero patience when i get new toys so set everything up at range same day and set to work. sighted in and let barrel cool down and proceeded to shoot the best groups of my life. at 400 yrds i could cover my group with a quarter. bolt is smooth i can operate it with just the tip my finger to extract cases, no failure to eject or feed, it is a heavy rifle but i didnt find it bothered me even walking a good 2km just to see how it felt on my shoulder, i carry it tip down in European style, butt down felt off balance ( i tryed ) but barrel down felt great. one big con would be with the o e piece rail its a bit hard to reload with any thing considered speed, but i plan on swapping out the stock to a oryx and box magazine in future so thats ok. it definitely is my most accurate rifle i own, it shoots better then i can. some reviews said stock it cones with is ugly, i dont mind it personally but then again i find magpul stocks down right sexy, so my point of view might be a bit off. all in all fabulous rifle, will be buying another as a back up.
