Savage built this gun to shoot the Remington sabot ammo. With a nikon slug scope or an ATN thermal or night vision optics, this gun will shoot a sabot round 200 yards with a grouping of 2 to 3 inches. I personally have killed several deer at 150 yards, no problem. Best slug gun ever!!!!!

I have 3 issues: 1. It does not group well past 75 yards with copper slugs required in California, 4" at 100YD is best with federal copper. 2. The knob at the end of the bolt is huge, it interferes with the trigger finger if you have large hands. 3. The magazine is difficult to insert and lock in place. Seems to go in angled most of the time and doesn't lock. It does eventually lock after several attempts. I went back to my Mossberg pump.

Purchased a 220 two years ago. In the owners manual, it tells you which loads to shoot for your particular gun. Mine said Remington 3” Accutips and brother they weren’t lying! This thing is a deer killing machine! I mounted a Nikon Prostaff 5, 3x10x42 using Talley one pice mounts. Sighted in at 80 yards per the manual and it will cut holes. I’m a hunter and live in Kentucky where we can use any rifle we want but where I’m at in eastern KY, a 150 yard shot is rare. This shotgun is just the ticket for hunting thick timbered areas and the Remington ammo sure puts the hurt on the deer. My 220 doesn’t have the accustock so this model is even more of a good deal. Don’t listen to the review about the bad magazine or the bolt handle. 5 minutes of practice with the magazine and you won’t have any trouble. The factory bolt is no problem but I replaced it with a Savage tactical bolt which is heavier and makes the gun cycle easier and quicker. Overall guys, these things are just deer killing machines and if your considering one, just buy it. You will not be disappointed.
