The biggest bulls. The longest shots. With the new Savage 110 High Country, they’re all within your reach. The rifle is built to maximize accuracy with a spiral-fluted barrel and bolt, as well as the Model 110 action secured three-dimensionally along its entire length within the AccuStock internal chassis. The AccuFit system lets hunters customize length-of-pull and comb height of the TrueTimber Strata synthetic stock. Plus, the user-adjustable AccuTrigger offers a crisp, clean pull critical for making precise shots at extreme distances. The low-friction, coyote brown PVD coating on the barrel, receiver and other critical parts is harder than competing finishes and protects against corrosion and heat. At just 2 to 4 microns thick, the coating does not interfere with the rifle’s tight tolerances.

2 years agoBought this rifle in .308 for my upcoming red stag hunt. Topped it off with a Vortex Viper PST FFP and this thing shoots. Managed a 1/2 MOA at 105 yds. Can't wait to use it in the field.

2 years agoAfter getting home and removing the stickers off the stock I noticed that some of the camo print had pulled off with the stickers. I don’t suppose that effects anything but the new look, but I would also expect for it to not come off with the removal of the factory stickers.

2 years agoI purchased the Savage High Country a year ago and have about 120 rounds through it. I found mine on sale at Bass Pro Orlando for $899 and Savage had a $100 mail-in rebate (via a Visa debit) for a total price of $799. I purchased it in the new 6.5 PRC cartridge which is considered a magnum. All High Country magnum calibers come with a factory muzzle brake. Let me tell you, that muzzle brake works! I topped the gun with a Vortex Optics Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 with MIL RADIANS. Ideal for shots out to 400-600 yards. The gun shot about .9" MOA new out of the box with Hornady Factory 140 gr ELD-X ammo. I purchased 700 rounds online to subdue the fear of ammo availability. At about the 50 round mark, consistent accuracy with my ability is .68" MOA with the best 3 shot group of .25" MOA. I can count on sub-MOA accuracy at all times. For those considering an accurate rifle, be aware with the medium contour barrel and a high quality scope, the gun will be a bit on the heavy side. Not something I would consider lugging up the side of a mountain. If you are new to a Savage action, you can not 'man-handle' it without it binding a bit. The bolts 2 points of contact reduces the surface area and the bolt will slightly mis-align if you are too aggressive with it. But, unlock it, the pull straight back and forward, you can be very quick and accurate with your reloads.

2 years agoI had been looking for a center fire rifle for some time. When I saw the ad for this Savage 110 it got my attention. I did some research and found this model to be recommended very highly as a good value, accurate, and dependable product. I am very pleased with this rifle so far. Hope to try it out soon.

1 year agoThis rifle is well built, shoots straight, shoots consistently, has a great factory trigger, and is user friendly with all it's adjustments. It has just a little wiggle in the bolt when operating, but don't all savages? Using hornady black 308, I was stacking rounds on top of each other at 100 yards today. I'm a big fan!

1 year agoOne of the reasons I bought this rifle was because it was stainless steel but had a coating (I don't like the look of raw/unfinished stainless). But after simply taking the rifle out to sight in the scope, and otherwise just being in the house, it has started developing rust on the muzzle brake, trigger guard and the bottom of the magazine. All these surfaces have the PVD coating on them so it's surprising to me that it rusts that fast. Especially when it hasn't even been exposed to water, rain, etc. It performs well, but savage should really point out that these parts are not stainless and the coating should be better. I mean PAINT wouldn't allow the metal to rust that quickly after one outing. Apparently this PVD coating is garbage.

1 year agoI have been very impressed with the performance, fit and feel of Savage. This is my 7th Savage rifle and I have to say it is my favorite. I have a few 116s that I have been very pleased with. The 110 platform is performing solidly as well. I love the ease of the accustock adjustments and of course that accutrigger. Out of the box accuracy that is hard to beat. Bought to try to get into a budget “mid-long” range tool. Can’t wait to use this upcoming deer season. Topped with the Cabela’s 6-24x50 Covenant 4 scope and must say I’ve been impressed with the combo.

1 year agoI bought the High Country in 6.5 prc. I haven’t shot it yet but just handing the rifle I’m extremely pleased. I love the features. Great fit and finish. In my opinion you get far more features than some other rifles at a much higher price point. Savage hit it out of the park. I prefer a heavy rifle and this one fits the bill. If your looking for a light weight rifle I would not suggest this gun.

1 year ago300 mag shoots good, would give it a 5 if the bolt was tighter. You have to be paying attention when you work the bolt, sometimes it will not pick up the next round.

1 year agoVery happy with this rifle it looks, feels and shoots great! I can’t say enough about how much I like this gun. Customer service however was a little lacking. My main problem is that I was never contacted when the rifle arrived like I was supposed to be. By the time I called the store myself to see what was taking so long I come to find it had arrived 3 days earlier. Other than that small hiccup everything has been great.

1 year agoBought brand new from Bass Pro Shops. Gun has misfired 6 times, can’t believe I paid this much for a rifle that won’t be consistent with firing rounds. Have to send back to Savage to find out what is wrong. There are a lot of reviews with this issue, That’s on me for not checking first.

1 year agoPurchased recently from Cabelas, mounted a decent BSA scope on and headed to the range to site in. used a bore sight to get somewhat on paper, by my 6th round i had quarter size groups at 100 yards, using Remington 7mm Rem Mag, 150 grain Core Lokt. Compared to my old Remington 770 (which is nothing in comparison :-) this is a dream. Recoil was about half due to the added cushion on the stock, and the muzzle break. the bolt was very smooth with no hang ups. From a free standing position, the rifle is a bit heavy after about 20 seconds of free arm support. Overall well worth the money. Box comes with spacers for butt stock and cheek rest. No doubt in my mind this is a keeper. the coating on all metal is very nice. should not have any issues with rust. Only Flaw i have seen is the camouflage coating has began to chip at the bolt handle.

1 year agoThe rifle has a solid stock, shoots sub MOA easily. The 110 accustock is a great feature, every manufacturer should have it. The rifle gets 4 stars because unfortunately it does not come with a thread protector if you want to remove the muzzle break. I emailed Savage and they sent one out, A++ for them.

1 year agoI’m usually not one to write reviews but I I’m really impressed with this rifle. I picked this up from bass pro in 6.5cm. I consistently shoot 1/2 moa 3 shot groups with precision hunters. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better rifle at this price point.

1 year agoBought the 110 high country in 30-06 for moose hunt in Canada. Out of the box the gun shoots good with consistent accuracy. The problem is with the action after firing. When you bolt open to eject the fired round sometimes the bolt will not pick up the next round and chamber it leaving you with an empty chamber. Not good. And of course this happened while on my hunt. I would not recommend this gun for hunting simply because of the poor quality of the action. Use it at the gun range where you have plenty of time to take the clip out and try to get a round to chamber.

1 year agoIt's rifle didn't like Hornady rounds it had a 2" group at 100 yards. So it tried some 150 grain Remington core lokt got an 1/8" group at 100 yards haven't got to stretch it out yet 500 yards

1 year agoBought this in 7mm Rem Mag a year ago and shot a 1/2" group with ELD-X 162gr reloads first 3 shots while breaking in the barrel. Out of all the 3rd groups I've shot from this rifle, only a couple have been over 1" at 100 yards. The PVD coating wears well and gives a beautiful low lustre finish for no reflection. The fact that this rifle is stainless steel with PVD coating means no worries in rain and snow. The included muzzle brake reduces the recoil to about a 243 and makes accuracy very easy. It's a self - timing brake, so if you ever take it off, there should be no trouble getting it properly placed again. The rifle is a bit heavy, especially with the extra 2" on the barrel and the muzzle brake, but perfect for a treestand or blind. Carrying it all day might be a chore. In non magnum calibers it will be on the heavy side, but doable as a pack rifle. The spiral fluting on the bolt and barrel is both beautiful and helps reduce weight, which the rifle definitely needs The stock finish has shown no signs of wear like some camo stocks do and has soft grip inlays in the right places. The fore-end is rounded and slightly thicker than the Ruger American. I can't really think of any negatives other than the weight and would definitely recommend the High Country as an upper mid level rifle. This will probably be the last hunting rifle I ever buy.

1 year agoGreat experience with grab a gun. Shipping was quick and the product came as described . I have not had a chance to go out and shoot yet but I’m looking forward to putting some rounds down the tube .

1 year agoThis is a solid rifle for long range hunting. It is not a lightweight mountain rifle. But for it intended purposes it is a solid performer! 6.5 prc as a caliber is amazing as well. Mild recoil and strong long range performance. Perfect rifle for bean field whitetail or cross canyon muledeer.
