2 years agoI bought this a month ago. Tore it down and cleaned it. 300 rounds fired. Liked the Hornady but cci & winchester worked ok. No jams or misfires. Just got a 6-24x50 vortex scope to see how far we can push the boundary. Lots of fun.

2 years agoThe heavy barrel came with a scope that works in low light conditions. Absolutely love my gun. I zeroed in @ 100 yards. Its very accurate. It would have been nice to get a Cabela's sticker at least when I ordered the gun.

2 years agoWas really excited about the concept of owning a .17wsm firearm for small game and maybe the odd coyote so I picked up a B-mag. I wish I had done more research on the gun before buying. All of the stocks are complete junk. The free floating barrel never floated as it touched the barrel on one side. I returned my first rifle but the second on also had this problem. The mag also had problems cycling that I could not get fixed. Over all it is a very low quality gun. I thankfully returned mine and will buy a different .17wsm when another manufacture makes a higher quality firearm.

2 years agoHave had this rifle for about 6 months now and it is by the far the most accurate gun I own and super fun to shoot. I should say the first thing I did after opening the box was throw away the thin piece of plastic that savage calls a stock and put a boyds custom thumbhole stock and a 4x12 scope and its been a blast since the first bullet. Would definitely recommend if you dont mind changing the stock.

1 year agoMatched with scope, rifle performed very well on its first trip to the range - Liked it right out of the box. Trigger was smooth and easy to get used to (is adjustable). Rifle liked various ammunition. Grouped great, once sighted in. New magazine is easy to load and use, liked the ergonomics of the rifle too. No issues with loading or ejecting - 250 rounds today. This rifle is a winner and for the money, is going to be hard to beat! TG

1 year agoThis is my first .17 HMR. The stock has a nice look to it for a synthetic. The bolt is smooth. The new rotary magazine is the best improvement. An all around decent rifle.

1 year agoAbsolutely wonderful rifle offering from Savage. I did have a slightly annoying issue with ejection of spent shells (happens on and off, maybe one shell out of 50 will need to be grabbed again by the bolt) and Savage is making that right by sending me replacement parts for free. Matched it with a decent scope and now I can reliably chew up bullseyes at 100 yrds. Cheap to shoot and it's a hit with my lady and the kids! Would definitely recommend to a friend.

1 year agoHave had this gun for a year and am quite pleased. No problem cycling with any of available cartridges. Best groups occurred using 25 grains at .6 MOA @ 100 yds. Haven't pushed it out further to date. Its practically like firing 223 but the ammo costs less. Would have rated it higher but the plastic stock is junk. Had it bedded in a Boyd stock and it really performs.

1 year agoAs with most others, I am of the opinion that the factory plastic stock is a throw away. Having done that, and adding a .17WSM calibrated scope, I have had nothing but incredible fun with this rifle, Mine also has the SS bull barrel, and is crazy accurate. Put a Boyds stock on this and you will have an excellent package. I have had zero issues after 2 years.

1 year agoBought this rifle from Cabelas two years ago. Last summer son and I shot about 1200 gophers with. Laugh out loud accurate. Hitting - read: catapulting three feet in Air - gophers from 100yds out to two hundred. Shooting skittish gophers so far away they have no clue you are there - at distances a 22 just can’t even attempt. Added Nikon prostaff scope and over first winter got a Boyd’s stock and extension for the lever (bolt action is very clunky but necessary IMO) and it made a huge difference in performance. Only regret is have 3-9 scope when 4-12 or even higher would help as at long distances the gophers are so small they don’t even fill cross in cross hairs. Many times my son shot gophers I couldn’t even see with naked eye. In sum it’s a hoot.

1 year agoI was so impressed with the B series in 17 HMR, that I bought a 22Lr and a 22WMR. You get an excellent rifle that looks nice, shoots well, and is a great value. The rotary magazine has been a great improvement over the stick mag.

1 year agoI was looking to buy a new 22lr bolt gun and it was between the B22 and the savage mkii. I ended up buying B22 FV and i am definitely glad i did. It had the 10 round mag that is flush fit with the stock and a much better factory profiled stock for target shooting. The mags fit and finish aren't as good and the Ruger rimfire line but after loading them a few times there are very easy to use. I have tryed about 12 different kinds of ammo through this gun and it has had no problems with any of them. The gun definitely like subsonics for .4 to .6 inch groups at 50 yards off a bi pod and rear sand bag. So far it likes Federal HV match and RWS target rounds the best. Don't be scared about buying this gun even though its a newer model. I love this rifle!

1 year agoThis rifle is very accurate, light weight and has a great stock. Great buy for the money, love the accutrigger. I would definitely by it over the competition.

1 year agoBought it... took it out that same day to sight it in. Just loading 1 at a time in mag just to kill time. I will admit it was awesome to shoot. Till I got to the 9th round. Loaded it aimed for my paper target pulled the trigger n BOOM. The warranty department did ship me a new one but not sure of I will shoot it again lol. Maybe it'll just collect dust in the safe. But other then that was fun

1 year agoI bought this rifle in .22 magnum for varmint hunting. I love it. The trigger pull was set at just over 2 pounds, so no adjustment was needed, and the rifle shoots great. It's exactly what I was looking for.

1 year agoI think I bought the first B-Mag that Edmonton South sold. Great caliber but bad gun. Light barrel + plastic stock = garbage! Got rid of it and got the heavy stainless barrel + Boyds stock = Awesome!! It just puts the bullets wherever I put the crosshairs.

1 year agoThe rifle has some accuracy potential with the 20 gr load but i haven't fired this one enough yet to "break" it in, haven't tried the 25 gr. load just yet. Fit and finish very good. I'll give it 5 stars for now as it is becoming more accurate the more that I shoot it.

1 year agoGreat gun bolt hurts your hand after couple rounds through it. I replaced it with a glades armory bolt. Put a nikon rimfire scope on it took some squirrels and rabbits out at 50-225 yards.
