2 years agoI did alot of research before I bought this gun and I have to says them squirrels dont stand a chance. I have a ruger 10/22 and domt get me wrong I love it but this savage mark 2 is byfar my favorite gun. I took it out of the box and was already shooting dead center at 100 yards without a scope. I do agree thate this bolt action is way more reliable than any auto ..I says this gun is awesome priced and is so worth the money, I would pay more for this gun if it was more cuz I like it so much ...sorry ruger I found my new hunting buddy and this savage has never jamed and is accurate with all ammo :) very happy with this gun

2 years agoHave had several 22s and the only one that comes close to the Mark 2s accuracy is a very old Gambles model 31 my grandfather left me. Come to find out, the old model 31 WAS made by Savage (Savage model 29B). Obviously Savage is still producing incredibly accurate rifles (ragged holes at 50 yards dime at 75, with CCI mini mags)! Only reason I can't produce ragged holes with the model 31/29B is it doesn't have a scope and my eyes aren't that good anymore. Savage Mark 2 is paired with a cheap Simmons 3-9X32, that I'm also thrilled with.

2 years agoThis is one of my favorite rifles to plink with. I put a scope and bipod on it and can pick anything off at a pretty decent distance. It's a nice lightweight gun. The only complaint I had was the five round magazine it came with. The spring wore out right away and the rounds popped out. It eventually fell apart completely and I threw it away. Fortunately, you can buy 10 round mags for a reasonable price and they are a lot more durable. This is a definate addition to your rimfire collection. The price was great as well.

2 years agoWhen I first got mine it would Fail to Eject and when I cycled the bolt the next round would get all mangled because the expelled round was still in the breach, I went online and this has been a pretty common problem and the issue has to do with the extraction fingers, and the extraction spring. On mine I had to get a small file and some emory cloth to clean up some burs on the bolt and sand down both sides of the extraction fingers, and I have to keep squeezing the extraction spring because it doesn't keep it's tension and Savage is currently out of stock for a new one. Even when this thing is working smooth it is no where near as accurate as some of my other .22's. Maybe it is more sensitive to the ammunition I use because with .22 LR so hard to find I shoot whatever I can find and sometimes I find some really awful ammo, It does have some good aspects like the trigger can be adjusted, it has rails for a scope, you can get 5 or ten round magazines for it, it has pre-installed swivels for a sling, and it is pretty easy to tear down for cleaning. Before buying do a google search for fails to eject, and magazine jams.

1 year agoIt's the perfect gun. Affordable. Durable. Light, but solid. Accurate. I can not think of a complaint about this gun other than it doesn't come with free extra iron sights, but that's not a complaint, it's the only thing I could think of. It's almost certainly more accurate than you are, and I shot small bore competitively. Easy to use. Great stock. Great barrel. Perfect .22, and I, personally, like the bolt much much more than the semi (e.g. Ruger 10/22) but to each their own.

1 year agoI have an older version of this rifle that's has a wood stock and it is by far the best 22 I have ever owned, I can fire the 11 rounds almost as fast as my semiatomatic, without bringing it down from my shoulder.

1 year agoDidn't buy the MKII F from Bass Pro. I spent 2 days at the store trying to initiate the background check. They didn't have enough employees to handle it. I gave up and never took delivery. I did buy the MKII-FV at another vendor. It is an excellent rimfire rifle.

1 year agoBought this rifle a week ago after reading all the great reviews. Unfortunately on the first day I took it out I started having extraction issues. Did some research and found out this is a common problem amongst the Savage Mark 2. I have got in contact with Savage and I am hopeful they will fix this issue. The rifle is accurate, the bolt action is smooth, trigger felt good and the price point is great. I am still hopeful for this rifle, once the issues are resolved of course. Definitely would have been a 5 out of 5

1 year agoThe mark11 shot real good. My son only put 50 rounds thru it of federal target. Only problem we had was it didnt extract 4 rounds, they stayed in the barrel when he cycled the bolt but a pocket knife quickly got them out. Maybe ammo, maybe not will find out as we get more use out of it. Accuracy was about 2" moa at 25 yards for him but it's new to him and hes using iron sights right now till we find a good scope. Over all nice gun for the money. Hes gona use it for squirrel hunting. Need to try different ammo in also.

1 year agoBest bang for your buck Extremely accurate Light weight Super easy to clean Easy to get extra magazines It’s my 3rd mark 2 I use each one for some thing different One is sighted in to shoot only shorts One I let my sons barrow and the last is my go to squirrel and everything gun Extremely happy, tight groups with my leupold 3x9x40

1 year agoPretty accurate rifle even with the cheaper ammo. My first 5 shots at 25 yards could be covered up with a dime. Group should tighten up considerably with quality ammo. This firearm seems to be well made and the trigger is exceptional. My only gripe would be that it should have came with 2 magazines instead of just 1.

1 year agoThis gun is just like all of my other savage rifles, extremely accurate. I put an ultra fine crosshair Leopold on it, it holds sub m.o.a. groups at 100 yards. The stock isn't the best but it is lite and durable and for the price, I can not complain.

1 year agoVery accurate, very nice trigger, average action and the magazine is just crap. I would prefer to see the venerable 17 Mach 2 in a Series A or B platform with the rotary mag.

1 year agoWould be a 5 Star if it had the sights as shown in the illustration. It's scope only. The magazine is easy to load. It's simple to remove. I put a 3-9x40 2ndb focal plane scope on it. The rifle is zeroed at 25 yards. Accuracy with Hornady and CCI ammo is almost at the same zero. The groups are extremely tight. The bolt needs to break in as it's tight at first.

1 year agoThis a very nice rifle light weight. It is a great shooter also. Shot 100 rounds though it. Every nice trigger pull also no need to adjust it also.
