Ive been carrying this pistol since the day it was released. Ive got around 2000 rounds through it now. Not a single hiccup as of yet. Great choice for carry or duty weapon. Draw backs: its new to the market so spare mags can be tricky to find. But it uses all fullsize mags too so... Also texture is aggressive. I love it but could be rough for some.

I believe S&W acknowledged the acceptance of the Glock 19 with the release of the new compact, 2.0. I do enjoy some of the enhancements that I had to pay aftermarket for on the previous model. The trigger is crisp and a definite improvement but still not in the realm of an Apex. The extended metal chassis adds rigidity and aids is quicker follow up. The ambi slide stop is a welcome addition. The new aggressive frame texture will chaff if carried In a IWB holster without a sweatguard but it won’t slip in your hands. The 4 backstraps should be a hit for those finding comfort getting the right grip. In going after the Glock 19 market, S&W comprimised the best attribute to the compact, it’s size. I own two of the original compacts and find their size, balance and capacity almost perfect for an EDC. After Apexing the triggers, they become quite formidable as even carrying a spare mag is comfortable again due to size.

I had been looking at this gun ever since I shot my wife's Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. I love the striker fire action after years of shooting with a hammer. The grip is aggressive and fits my hand perfect with the interchangeable palm grips. I also like the 15-round magazine and the ability to use a 17-round magazine with the grip spacer/extension. I recently added a 17-round magazine and it works perfect. Field stripping the gun for cleaning is simple and takes no time at all. Another great Smith & Wesson product that I will use for years to come. Comes with a hard case, two 15-round magazines, two grip extensions for 17-round magazines, and a cable lock. I've put a couple hundred rounds through this gun with no misfires or jams. The balance and feel is natural and does not have a noticeable recoil. I purchased the model with the thumb safety, which is conveniently located and ambidextrous. This is by far my favorite gun ever! Interested to see how it works for conceal and carry.

Was very interested in this firearm. Bought one through Cabela's without seeing it. Read many reviews, watched many videos. The only negative I found was the grip was rough. Picked up gun and the grip is a bit aggressive to the tough but loved the way it sat in my hand. Went to my club and shot it on my way home and wow! Right out of the box 5" groups at about 17 yards outside in 15 degree weather. When I got home, found it very easy to tear down to clean. I did find it more to clean than my Glocks, but I also through about 100-150 rounds through it. This gun is sweet! I then found out that Smith and Wesson was offering a $50 rebate to active, retired, and disabled Military on the firearm. Great American made firearm that does not disappoint.

Although thus pistol was not my first choice it should have been. As a new shooter I'm very comfortable with this 9mm. Great grip and minimal kickback.

I had bought the Full Size 9 mm / 5" barrel version of the M&P 2.0 a bit over 2 months ago and it made such an impression, that I could not wait to get the Compact. The ergonomics, especially the grip angle and low point of aim won me over immediately. Full disclosure: I have never been a Glock fanatic, and I really, really tried, always hoping that the next generation would be the one to win me over. Here is the thing: The M&P 2.0s didn't have to try to convert me, out of the box it was a natural match (and yes, I get that these are all subjective qualifiers) however let me go over them: 1. Did I mention the ergonomics? To me at least, this is what (as a kid) I always thought a handgun should feel like. Yes, I know I am being very abstract, but dunno how else to put it. Let me go with cliche then: It feels like an extension of your limb as it is a very natural and instinctive point of aim. 2. Grip texture. It grabs you back when you hold it. The current iteration of Glocks makes me feel like I am trying to hold on to one of those Japanese prickly foot massage flip-flops. Also the number of available back straps means that you can really dial it in to your liking. 3. The trigger. Sure, it is still a striker trigger but 'wow' I am glad that I can hold off on an after market unit, simply because out of the box this is rather nice, I imagine it will get even better after a few hundred rounds of break-in. 4. Aftermarket. For those who cannot leave well enough alone, there is a very healthy ecosystem of shops and folks out there working hard to improve on what is already a very solid platform. May not be up to the same level as the "Big G" but I feel that as the 2.0 pistols keep taking up more of the market share, the options will only increase. 5. $$$. I am not an operator, not in law enforcement or married to a multinational corporation. The S&W M&P 2.0 is very competitively priced when compared to pistols in the same class by Glock, Sig, FN, CZ and others. 6. Great for any type of carry. Concealed or duty; additionally with the two included sleeves, you can use full size 17 round mags and have a longer grip, which is never a bad thing. I guess that is it, having tried mine, my best bro decided to get into the M&P 2.0 game (unlike me he only got the Compact, that is how much more he liked over the full size if that tells you anything)

I bought this firearm s month ago and could not be more pleased. I have fired 100 rounds of ammo with no issues. Breaks down easily for cleaning. Comes with multiple sized grips to accommodate hand size.

This is a great firearm! Perfect size for both conceal and carry and target shooting. It is VERY easy to use and has less of a kick than the Glock 19 I was used to.

I like the fact that this is inline with the Glock 19, a favorite of mine. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the trigger grittiness. You can Google to see some people say it smooths out after a thousand or two rounds but the bottom line is it should be smooth as butter from day one. An aftermarket striker block replacement was easy to install and essentially solved the issue for me. With that, this firearm stands up well.

Bought it a month ago and love it. Great service start to finish. If you are not a fan of the Glock grip, you will love the M&P.

Good style, usable sights, fair trigger and great ergonomics, the grip locks into your hand and points naturally. Got it, cleaned and lubed it, went to the range and ran 150 Herter’s rounds with no malfunctions. Very accurate, no sight adjustment needed. Did a $2 polish on some internal parts and the little guns trigger now feels better than most striker fired guns. I now have over 500 rounds of all kinds of ammo through it with 1 dud round, guess which ammo that was! Now on my hip in a Tolster holster.

Being a Glock guy originally, I was skeptical to try this in .40sw because I always thought it had too much recoil with less accuracy than most 9mm’s. After owning this particular gun, it changed my perspective entirely! All of the adjustments they made to help reduce recoil and keep a good short spread are very noticeable, and makes this the easiest/best .40 cal gun I’ve EVER shot! I’m actually more accurate with this piece than my G19 gen 5. Highly recommend!!
