Bought this rifle a few weeks ago and finally hit the range. The accuracy and feel far exceeded expectations and well worth the cost.

Great solid build by a solid company in SW. This is a great weapon for upgrades and add one as you go!

This was my first AR purchase. For the price you really can't beat it. It does what it's supposed to for a fraction of the cost of the high end models.

I bought this rifle in August of 2020. I sent it back to Smith for repair in November of 2020. Gun would bend cartridges and lock up, cartridge would get stuck. Sent it back to Smith. Got it back in January. They replaced the bolt. Now, it not only jams, but misfires. Sent it back to Smith again. have used different Magazines, and both premium and bulk ammo. Does not make a difference. I have asked Smith to send me a new gun. If I get it back, and I still have problems, I am either going to destroy the gun (as I do not think it is safe for anyone to use) and or file a lawsuit. I would not attempt to sell this gun to someone else. People, check out the blogs on this gun and the jamming and misfiring. It is a huge problem. I would not advise using this gun for self defense. If I had to do it over again, there is no way I would ever buy one again.

Got this before the wackos ban everything! Its great. Love it! Maybe next time, you guys will vote the right way and won't have to worry about purchasing something that is our God given right to have!

I only got to fire it twice but it performs great. The guys at Bass Pro Plainfield were professional and helpful. Great experience

I bought this rifle about a month ago. First time at the range, right out of the box it failed. Will not feed round all the way without a second pull of the handle, will not eject fully when fired. Brass appears to be shaved. Brass filings build up in chamber. 100% each time. Tried 3 different magazines and two different types of ammo. Never fed properly. Working with S&W Warranty now... but haven't resolved it yet.

I've had it for a few months and through a couple hundred rounds of 223 556 mixed brands. Overall satisfied with the purchase had no problems with it. I changed the furniture to magpul for function and comfort.

I am only so glad that I bought this rifle at Bass Pro-Shops about four years ago. I knew it was a "bare bones" weapon when I bought it...It was black and plain as Jane with nothing but stock iron sites, grips and whatever else came with it which wasn't much. It was like a blank canvas in front of an artist. I had every intention of making this MY Personal Weapon of Self and Family Defense. which I was able to do for less than four hundred more dollars. The one thing I did NOT want was too much added weight so, I only put on tactical items I could absolutely use in any or all situations where a weapon like this might be called for. After handling my rifle, firing it, and really working my rifle over, everyone who sees/uses my rifles - and especially people who bought higher end models says they wish they'd bought this weapon instead. The salesman told me that I could take it right out of the box, lock, load, aim and fire and hit a target dead square center at fifty yards. (Yeahhh, Sure, Rrrrrright, OK, I thought.) I was prepared to have to do a little work on the sights. When we went out to fire this thing the first time out we paced off about fifty yards, set up our target stand and got ready for the worst. We were using Remington .223 , 55 grain brass cartridges. I aimed at the target through the iron sights, breathed in slowly and held my breath for a second and slowly exhaled as I pressed the trigger to fire. A short pull, very little kick and a binocular look at the target showed I was about two inches down from top dead center. That was MY fault, not the rifle's. We were having so much fun with the rifle that we quickly went through 10 - 30rd mags. Not one mis-fire, not one extraction or reloading issue whatsoever. I've not owned this weapon for four years. I take it out whenever I can. (But, with the limited ammo supply and the cost of it, I cannot afford to take it out anymore than a time or two every few months.) Some reviews ad you tube videos said that one need not clean their rifle every time they use it. I ALWAYS have mine thoroughly cleaned before I lock it back up in my gun safe. Still and yet, I have not one issue with this weapon. Some people have stated that this is a "starter" rifle. However, when ever I see people posting pictures of hog shoots they've gone on, invariably, I see this rifle as their weapon of choice for medium to large animals. Just for the ability to take this rifle and upgrade with the furniture YOU alone want on your weapon, I would recommend this rifle to anyone looking for a good clean, lightweight platform upon which to build their "rifle of rifles."

Has shot 2500 + rounds 5.56 and no issues. Replaced factory handgaurds because no heat shields. Purchased different stock, got one with better shoulder padding. Als0 bought 22LR conversion kit to try out. Has worked well.

After a million videos. Finally got it .Please don't judge me on a budget here. Slapped a H sun red dot and magnifier on. Zero in surprise . Hit steel at 300 yards after 5 shots. First AR rifle. Would have gotten it the first time if I wasn't so over giddy.

For the price and the quality you can’t go wrong with this rifle regardless of your experience level. Hey of course I wouldn’t eventually mind having a high end Daniel defense AR, but in the meantime I have swapped out some of the hardware and I’m really happy with this as my first AR. I highly recommend!

Solidly built. Comes with one 30 round mag (As of May 2022 in WA state). I wanted a stable platform for my 1st AR (Stable meaning reliable and ready to shoot at a fair price point) and the M&P 15 is Great! I prefer Hogue Grips over the stock ones And changed out the hand grip to one that has actual heat shielding. But right out of the box, this should be perfect for any casual shooter. (Casual meaning, you are not putting 1000 rounds an hour though it, 7 days a week, all rapid fire) There are MANY you tube videos on the build/quality of this firearm. I did go with a ROMEO 5 Red Dot which is also great! If you're changing out the handguards for the 1st time I'd highly recommend a D ring compressing tool.

Gun shot well right out of the box and I am looking forward to throwing some new accessories on it so I can take it out again!

After having this and using frequently over the last 6 months I can say this gun is perfect for what it's worth. I have changed many parts in the gun for vanity reasons. Extremely easy to work on. The barrel that came with the gun is not mil spec and I found that out the hard way. Bigger .750 and smaller than .875. I found a low profile gas block with latch and came together perfectly. The only thing I wish was different out the box is the 1/9 twist rate.

Rented a few AR's but liked how this one felt. I have put over 100 rounds through it now and was pleased on how easy it is to adjust the iron sights. It is a good start for my newly found interest in owning guns.

Just got a chance this weekend to get out and run some rounds through it, and it is quite a fun purchase. Very little kick on it and the sights that came with it were pretty accurate. The only reason I didn’t give 5 starts yet is I haven’t had it that long. Looking forward to getting out again to shoot with it though.
