1 year agoMost awesome Pig hunting handgun ever. Hardly know you're carrying it until you pull the trigger. Awesome S&W trigger. Not for showing off with, you gotta practice with this hand cannon. Ct.

1 year agoI love it as a carry gun. The wood grips will make you cry for your mother they hurt. Carry a lot shoot a little. But it’s there when you need it

1 year agoI have two Smith & Wesson scandium alloy revolvers that I love, an R8 (a real tack driver) and a 386 Night Guard. I've always wanted a mountain gun and decided .44 magnum was enough to drop pretty much anything in North America and not break the ammo. bank, as .44 magnum will also fire .44 Specials. Less than 30 oz. loaded, just over 25 oz. empty it carries well but be careful how you load it or it'll pound you (Buffalo Bore has made a 240gr magnum specifically for this gun that won't beat you … Read More

1 year agoThis is a great revolver for carrying out in the woods because of how light it is. Recoil is significant but manageable with .44 magnum rounds. It comes with wood and rubber grips. I switched to the rubber grips and it's a lot more comfortable to shoot. I carry this revolver in my StealthGearUSA chest holster and it's an awesome setup. Purchasing from GrabAGun was an awesome, painless experience. They shipped it fast to my FFL and revolver arrive in perfect condition.

1 year agoAbsolutely perfect as a moutain gun. I'm carrying in a Galco Alaskan chest rig, perfect for hiking. Loaded with Buffalo Bore light 44 magnum, very comfortable to shoot. Fit and finish flawless.

1 year agoGun worked fine aNd as advertised. The recoil was worse than Hot loaded 500SW by far. the gun is limited because you cant do the top end of 44mag’s capability. I think a G40 in 10mm or a FNX45 in 460Rowland would fit this role better. The Key lock can be removed when disassembled fairly easily. ABsolutely get the X-framE grips, they will fit on this and give the webbing of your thumb some padding.

1 year agoGorgeous revolver. It's a dream to shoot with .44 Special. It's punishing with hot .44 Magnum loads. Given it's weight and size, it's extremely comfortable to carry. But it's A beast. If One is even slightly recoil sensitive, then a heavier revolver might be a better match.

1 year agoLooks great, came with wood AND rubber grips…light as a feather so great for hiking (trust 44 magnum more than bear spray).

1 year agoI had this gun and it kicked like a mule and it really hurts your hand to shoot it. After about 200 rounds with store bought ammo, the gun exploded in my Pastor's hand aft the range. It's a pretty gun. I had the model 29 with the 6 1/2 inch barrel and that gun fired great.

1 year agoI bought mine a while back for a horseback archery Elk hunt in Grizzly bear country. I did bag an archery Elk and fortunately the handgun stayed in it's holster for the duration of the hunt. It is a little light in the hand for the powerful magnum rounds; so I had the barrel ported and bought rubber grips. Good compromise; it shoots well now and without the rude recoil of a Magnum round. Either way you won't be shooting it daily anyway.

1 year agoAfter all the hype about the light frame and recoil nightmares. This firearm shoots far better than the low bar I set for it. I started with .44 Specials to get a feel for it; graduated to 200 grain .44 Magnums; and finally 300 grain Hornady Defense .44 Magnum. A nightmare? No. Granted, I did not even attempt shooting with the wood grips; I assumed they were simply for "eye candy" anyways. I now carry this on our daily hikes in a Galco Wheelgunner holster and I couldn't be happier.

1 year agoThe gun fits the hand well it does have some recoil but then it is a 44 magnum. Sometimes rather than using the magnum rounds I just run 44 special, in fact I use the Hornady Critical Duty ammo in 44 special for home defense in this and my Smith and Wesson model 69.

1 year agoVery nice gun. Amazingly low in weight, makes it great for carrying on hikes in bear territory. Enjoyable to shoot 44 special at the range. 44 magnum rounds have quite the kick, even with a rubber Houge "tamer" grip. My thoughts are that this is a purpose built gun, to provide decent firepower at an easy to carry weight. I don't plan to shoot this more than 2-3 times a year, and probably only a dozen rounds or so each time, primarily to stay comfortable with it. Probably better (heavier) options out there to take more abuse if you are going to be shooting it often.

1 year agoLight, but I put x grips on before shooting. Very manageable. I believe the factory grips look nice but would be painful. My 13 yr. Old shoots this gun and likes it. Highly recommend.

1 year agoLight so easy to carry in the back country…beautiful gun…comes with black rubber grips that absorb the recoil if needed. I would buy again..
