I purchased this S&W Model 57 solely for the purpose to add to my "Classics" collection. This gun is built on S&W N-frame and looks very similar to the S&W Model 29 44 mag the one used in the "Dirty Harry" movies. The 41 mag is not a popular caliber since it sits above the 357 mag and below the 44 mag. Otherwise the gun shoots and handles 41 mag very well good trigger and sights. The fit and finish are very good.

Beautiful revolver as you would expect from Smith & Wesson. I am not a fan of the grips though. They look nice, but they are too skinny and have a few edges that should be rounded over more than they are. I plan on getting a set of replacement replica "Coke Bottle" walnut target grips. The double action trigger pull is pretty stiff out of the box. I got a set of reduced power trigger return springs and used a 15lb spring vs the stock 18lb one. It helped to reduce the double action pull a … Read More

I thought i was a semi-Auto guy until...this! The first revolver i ever shot was a friend’s Model 57 back in 1990. I have wanteD one Ever Since. I can’t wait to go shoot it aGain. Gag service was expedient and excellent! They are now my first stop for firearm shopping.

I love my 41’s. a M-57 and its little brother M-58. What sold me on the 41 mag was John amber the now deceased author of Cartridges of the world. Amber claimed the 210 41 penetrates deeper on game than the 240 44 mag. I can shoot the 41 mag much longer without the fatigUe and flincHies From shooting a 44 Mag. Amber claimed the 41’s Measured recoil is 70-75% of the 44. The only downside the ammo like my other favorites, 45 Colt and 44 special is scarce, as is 41 caliber jacketed projectIles for … Read More

I have wanted one of these since i was a kid way back in the 60's. finally got one and oh boy was it worth waiting for! i'm not a big S&W guy and this is my 2nd S&W in my life. first s&w i bought back in 1980 was the model 41. this particular revolver is highly sought after by collectors. a bit costly. finish and fit are perfect. it's a piece well worth getting! if you love the .41 magnum cartridge add this revolver to your collection. you won't be disappointed!

The center piece of my S&W revolver collection , is my model 57 /.41 Magnum that was MANUFACTURED in 1976 . The blue finish on this gun, is still very impressive . I have seen and fired the .41 magnum classic , through my brother in law, and they are still a beautiful revolver . They are a well balanced , quality built and are accurate from the factory .

Only thing not to like is the new style grips. They need a bit more palm swell like the older original grips. I'll be visiting Altamont grips to correct this shortcoming. Other than that, it's a sweet Smith & Wesson N frame revolver. Glad they brought it back. Gotta love it!

Same quality I see on my original model 14 and model 19 Smith and Wessons. Almost the same power as the 44 with more manageable recoil. It will see a lot of use holstered in a chest rig while hiking in bear country.

Really nice. Not quite the old one, but still very good. It won’t disappoint. Grips are weird and I did replace with older factories. Looks way better. Curious, as to why the logo is on the left and not the right. Think that needs to change (and it’s the small logo). Like it on the side plate (right) better (25 and 29 classic have it on the right)...Read More Read more about review stating Nice gun for the money
