Words do not describe the sheer awesomeness of this revolver…I got a Hogue rubber grip for it even though the wood handle is beautiful...The Hogue makes a big difference considering you are holding a stick of dynamite in your hands..

I must first say I currently have, and previously have had many 29/ 629's to compare this one to. I love this revolver and it is now my favorite! I wanted the 3" because I have the need to carry one this size in the field on some occasions and be able to shoot it well off-hand. This is my favorite configuration in the smith and wesson lineup. My recreation of is camping, atv and fishing and a 629 with a 3in barrel fits the bill perfectly. It is the fastest out of the holster and will still hold a tight patern at 15ft with 44mag snake shot. I have slowly worked up a Load The i can get 1189 fps with a 240gr hard cast from this gun where the spent Ca cases will fall out on Ejection, but hang on ;)

Super nice pistol. Was a little surprised at how well it handled with those grips and short barrel. Very manageable, about the same as my 6 inch model 29. Very happy with this purchase

Love the gun , just know that , the back strap bites the webbing of your hand … between the thumb & index finger… grip modification may be needed and / or replacement.

Terrible on the part of S&W, but equally if not more terrible on the sellers part for not checking the weapon before sending to the buyer. Sending it back to S&W now.

If you’re looking for a good hand cannon this gun is it. Bought it for Moutain Lion hunting but a really good revolver in general.

Extremely disappointed. Although great communication and super-fast delivery the gun was not as illustrated on the website. The finish was dull and appeared to be USED. The website depicted the gun as shinny and with a mirror like finish. Not at all !! In addition, this purchase was at a PREMIUM ++ PRICE.

What a wonderful experience buying this 44 Magnum, it’s waiting now for the 10 day waiting period, then it will be fun to use it at the range and see how well we gel together.

I have always been a huge fan of S$W revolvers. I own a few but have always wanted a 629. I finally got around to buying a 629-6. First time at the range was a good experience. Double action trigger pull pretty heavy. Single action crisp clean pull. Gun is balanced well with the 6.5 inch barrel. Heavy barrel helps lower recoil.

The trigger in Single Action has a distinct creep, something unexpected in a S&W, however it breaks at 2 LB 5oz The cylinder latch is very stiff and rough but I suspect it with smooth out after several hundred rounds are put through it.
