Performance center guns originate from standard designs or are created from the ground up. From hand-cutting and fitting to fine tuning for precision, these firearms are top performers. Products from the Performance Center are the ultimate expression of old-world craftsmanship blended with modern technology. A moon clip is a ring-shaped or star-shaped piece of metal designed to hold multiple cartridges together as a unit for simultaneous insertion and extraction from a revolver cylinder.

2 years agoI am not an expert on guns, but I do love this gun. Very accurate with a nice trigger. Bought ten more moon clips because it only came with three and I made my own moon clip tool because is very difficult to unload without it.

2 years agoThis gun is a pleasure to shoot but you would think that S&W would include a better front sight instead of a black rear site and black front sight. This is a Performance Center competition handgun so I would have expected better sights on it. Other than the sight issue it is a great gun. Love it!! P.S. I am changing to a Dawson fiber optic front sight.

1 year agoWhen I received the gun the double stage trigger pull was 10 3/4 pounds. The single stage was a very nice 3 1/2 with no creep. I changed some springs and the grips so that it would feel more like the other S&W I shoot in competition. Shot it in an ICORE competition today. I'm in love.

1 year agoGreat revolver! I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that moon clips have to be used to set headspace, otherwise the cartridge just falls through the cylinder. I have s&w other revolvers 625 45acp and 610 10mm both are moon clip optional, meaning used for loading and unloading not for headspacing. Also the double action trigger is a little to heavy for me needs a lighter spring. Single action trigger is good nice clean break no overtravel. Overall a fun revolver to shoot

1 year agoI can consistently hit 12 inch plates at 80 yards with this pistol . You really don't need the muzzle brake unless you intend to shoot heavy bullets or very fast loads. 2nd time shooting it my shooting partner suggested we have a little competition shooting racks of knock down 9in plates each shooting half and moving to the next rack and finish off with 2 6in hanging plates between the racks at ~10yds. he using a glock 34 and me using the 929 single action. Well after 2 runs i started out … Read More

1 year agoGreat COMPETITION range gun. Smith ships all of thier revolvers dry. I open them up, tune them and oil them and then run them.

1 year agoThis revolver you can't go wrong with. It's extremely accurate with a great trigger right out of the box! It's big and heavy, but really damps down any 9mm recoil. The Barrel is aggressively rifled, which I'm sure adds to it's accuracy. You might have guessed that I'm over the moon with this pistol. It's so fun to shoot that you won't believe it!

1 year agoThe gun came in with a defective rear sight, so I did not accept it. This is a Performance Center gun, almost $1,400, and is supposed to be custom tuned by the factory. There's no excuse for a PC gun to come with an obviously defective sight. Very disappointed.

1 year agoThis revolver requires a substantial amount of time and effort before it’s competition ready. Reliability will be an issue until the owner works through the inevitable problems. It is not of robust construction, which is probably a compromise as it is the “fastest” available product on the market for those few of us who compete in revolver divisions. Unless a shooter has a lot of talent and hopes to challenge Mike Poggie, most of us will probably be better served with an S&W 627 PC or PC V-Comp and loading .38 short Colt. By the way, the 929 takes a .38/.357 bullet.

1 year agoexpected better machining work supressor on barrel fits poorly cylinder not machined very well bought 2 other pistols both came with target patterns nothing on the s&w like the feel and grip i have big hands it fits well

1 year agoWhy on earth they did not make this is a true 5" barrel is beyond me, other than that its a great gun

1 year agoI am completely happy with this gun. It shoots well and fits my hands well with the stock rubber grips. I do recommend the use of the TKCustom tools (can be purchased thru AMAZON) for loading and unloading the moon clip - they make loading and unloading a breeze.

1 year agoVery happy with the 929. Comfortable handle and shoots great. I will change the sights to a set of hi-viz but overall I couldn't be happier with this S&W revolver.

1 year agoLove this revolver! A couple minor tweaks to fit my preferences (fiber optic front sight, new grip) and it’s ready for ICORE. Balances and points surprisingly naturally given the barrel length.

1 year agoGreat revolver for target shooting by cutting down on cost by shooting 9mm compared to burning through more expensive. 38 special.

1 year agoThe model 929 is an awesome revolver, very accurate out of the box and with a few mods has become my go to revolver for competitions.

1 year agoSo happy I was able to come across another one of these revolvers on here. Got it all set up for Open Revolver and TKCustom decked it out. This thing is fast and accurate.
