The world of tactical rifles forever changed in 2004 when Springfield Armory® introduced the M1A™ SOCOM 16. 7.62NATO power in a package this small was previously unthinkable. Shooters who need a compact rifle no longer have to settle for a lesser caliber, although they can expect less felt recoil and less muzzle rise, thanks to the SOCOM 16’s unique design.
The SOCOM 16 starts with a specially-engineered 16 inch barrel that is mated to the gas system with a proprietary muzzle brake. Shoot the SOCOM 16 and you’ll be double-checking the stamping on the barrel, because you’ll have a hard time believing that you’re shooting a .308. The muzzle brake reduces felt recoil and keeps muzzle rise so flat that follow-up shots with a caliber this powerful have never been so easy. The enlarged ghost ring aperture rear sight and XS Tritium Insert in the front sight give you the quick target acquisition capability you want and need under any conditions. If your mission calls for optics, the SOCOM 16 features Springfield Armory®’s forward scout-style Picatinny mount. Of course, the SOCOM 16 also has the legendary performance and reliability that M1A™ shooters have come to love and expect.
If your mission requirements call for a compact tactical rifle, but won’t let you sacrifice power, you need the SOCOM 16. Bring Enough Gun™.

1 year agoVery nice rifle with good ergonomics. Can hardly wait to do more field work with it. GrabAGun had it delivered in less than one week--their team is the best for service and ironing out little glitches in the computer system. Very happy customer!

1 year agoHands down, great firearm. Recoil is low for a .308. Only issue is its weight but overall i like it and have no regrets getting it.

1 year agoLove my M1A Socom! I went through Army boot camp on the M14. Later in Vietnam i also shot the 7.62 except is was with the M60 machine gun. Fell in love with the 7.62 round. It has great knock down stay down punch. I will be putting a lot of rounds down range with this sweet rifle.

1 year agoGReat looking hi power rifLe. The long eYe relief on a scout scope does not take much to get used to and get Rounds on paper.

1 year agoget the cqb version with the archangel stock if you want a more modern design, or get a walnut stock if you want the classic look. in either case avoid the black polymer oem stock.

1 year agoBetter than expected, haven't had a chance to fire it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Delivery was slow, apparently due to a bunch of orders.

1 year agoI have looked at the M1A for years but were always to costly. I finally found some extra money (please don't tell my wife and bought the M1A Socom. I love it I have several AR 15 platforms and enjoy shooting them but my first time at the range, when I finally left and my shoulder was hurting. I smiled all the way home. Palmetto was great, no issues or problems and shipped in I believe 3 days. You cannot go wrong with the M1A or Palmetto...
