The XD-M .40 is the first firearm i have owned. I have never shot a handgun before and when i took it to the range i was amazed at how at ease i felt shooting it. I am so glad i went with the xd-m instead of one of their competitors. this is truly an awesome gun!!!

One of the finest handguns I have ever purchased. I ahve owned mine for almost a year with no malfunctions and an absolute pleasure to shoot. For the price and the quality you can't go wrong with the XDm.

I bought this gun because I left my others at home. I thought I grabbed the 40 but instead I grabbed the 9mm. I came with everything. paddle holster, quick loader, 2 clip holder, 2 different size grips, and 2 clips. I bought 6 boxes of rounds, different types (XDM models only). loaded up the 19 round clips and let it fly. I soon found out that I did not buy enough rounds or have enough clips. now I buy the case of rounds and have 6 clips. this keeps me entertained for a little while. I only had one problem with Winchester rounds, one jammed due to the round itself. Winchester sent me a new box of 50 rounds after I wrote them a letter. I put 500 rounds through it before I cleaned it and it shoot excellent every time without fail. great fun gun!!! As you can see in the picture there are two empty shells in the air and i am still shooting. 17 out of 19 were center mass.

A fantastic gun. With 16+1, it's a blast sending that much lead down-range with confidence. The match-grade barrel gives consistent groupings and accuracy over the long-haul. I've owned mine for over two years now and have shot well over 2,000 rounds through it without ANY jamming or incident whatsoever. I typically go with Winchester FMJ target ammo and have also shot some home-defense rounds through it to get a feel for the difference in loads. A real joy to shoot. The way this gun performs, it feels like it's worth at least twice what I paid for it.

I don't like to be unoriginal in my reviews, and I have read the other reviews for the xdm and I must say that I have to concur with the idea that this is an excellent firearm. Assembled nicely. Easy to strip and clean and has an excellent feel to it as well. Its cool that Springfield gives you a bunch of extras (Holster, speed loader ...etc) but the pistol would still be worth it even if it didn't come with all that stufff. I thought the trigger was a little jerky at first, but after about 500 rounds it felt perfect.

I originally went to my local Bass Pro, excited about my plan to finally buy the Glock G23 .40 S&W compact high capacity pistol that I had been wanting badly for awhile, but hadn't been able to afford - finally, it would be mine! To my horror, the display that normally held my dream gun was empty, and when I inquired of the salesman if he had more "in the back," he explained that my G23 had been on back order for weeks, with no prospect of getting any in for God only knew how long, and that all gun stores in Vegas, and probably the entire United States, were in the same boat! I was hoping that the salesman hadn't seen the tears welling in my eyes or heard the embarrassed sniffling of my nose, but I'm sure he had because In between my stifled sobs, I heard him say in a kindly voice, "Here, bud, I have something that'll make you feel better," and he handed me the XDM-40. This Springfield instantly felt as though it had been custom made just for me! And not only were its balance, weight and grip like an extension of my own arm, but its aesthetics were as pleasing to my eyes as an incredibly sexy, perfectly proportioned woman! The gloom I had been feeling left my mind as quickly as did the G-23! Glock? What Glock? I could barely stop grinning long enough for me to tell my savior of a salesman to ring me up! And when I saw all of the accessories that come with the XDM packed into its case, I knew I'd found one of those bargains that happen but a few times in one's life, and I was grateful. But the real treat of the Springfield XDM-40 is its flawless functionality: from its smooth trigger pull, perfectly balanced recoil, reliability and accuracy of its 3.8" barrel and its 16 shot magazines (it comes with two!), to its simple and quick method of field stripping! So, my advice to you is to forget about the gun you think you've got to have, and buy the Springfield XDM-40 3.8" semi. I'm not being paid for this review, so why would I waste my valuable range time making it up?

I have owned the XDM since it's introduction several years ago,& it is one of the sweetest shooting handguns I've ever used. The 16 + 1 capacity is reassuring in case things were to go south,& I have never experienced a jam in many trips to the range. How much do I trust this weapon?I'd bet my life on it!

Have been debating about which 9mm to buy, so between renting them at the range, and having friends meet me at the range with theirs and the XDM is my favorite. As a new shooter I want to know how the gun will handle before I purchase one, so I've been conducting a little test: I've shot each and used the same tests: 50 rounds @ 10Y (as fast as I can empty the clip center of mass) and 50 rounds @ 25Y (aimed shots at head) all using the same targets at the same range. So far I've tested 9 different 9mm's including: XDM, Beretta 92FS, Glock 19, 3 Rugers (P95 and 2 SR2s), 2 Taurus (709, PT-111) and a Walther. Of all of them the XDM is the front runner and it was one of the first ones tested. It and the 92FS are tied at 10Y for a hand sized grouping and same number of points. For the 25Y test the XDM only scored 2 points less than the 92FS. The reason the XDM is winning is because I liked having more rounds in the mag, but also because I noticed less hand strain (having early carpal tunnel the different grip made it more comfortable to hold and shoot). Of all the ones I've testes (roughly side-by-side) this one felt great, shot great, scored great and is still very easy for a 'novice' to pick-up and be functional in seconds.

I have owned this platform for one year. I have fired over 3000 rounds flawlessly. Take down is extremely simple and quick. Cleaning is a breeze. This platform functions extremely well with no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend this firearm to everyone.

I have the XDM 4.5 version of this firearm and it is wonderful. Unlike another make and caliber of firearm that I have purchased and which jammed every few rounds, this one works without a problem with several hundred rounds fired. There have been no fail to eject errors and it is a highly accurate firearm. The two 16 round magazines which came with it are convenient and a blast to shoot without reloading as often. I would recommend this to anyone.

I purchased the Springfield Armory XDM 40 3.8 with the bi-tone stainless slide. As a female shooter, I am very pleased with this firearm. It is extremely accurate out-of-the-box and the recoil isn't snappy at all. I not only enjoy shooting this gun at the range- I also carry it as my primary concealed carry firearm.

I own quite a few firearms including a Smith & Wesson 1911 E-Series. While the S&W is a superior firearm in every respect, the XDM has become my favorite gun due to its high capacity mag. I started looking for a 9mm because they have good stopping power and are considerably cheaper to operate than the .45. After testing several at the range, I finally got my hands on the XDM. My search was over. It is everything I wanted & then some. As with any firearm, the first consideration should be accuracy. This is a VERY accurate gun. But then again, so were some of the other guns I tested. So, I started considering other features. I really like the Melonite coating. I considered the S&W M&P series for that very reason. Since this is going to be primarily used for home defense, the rail is a nice touch. The grip is extremely comfortable, and the interchangeable backstraps make the XDM very customizable. Finally, the deep serrations make the slide very easy to operate. Once I decided on the XDM, the only thing left was to decide which model. The 3.8" was never a consideration. I wanted a full size gun. I considered the 5.25" in case I ever decided to shoot competitively, but I ultimately decided on the 4.50". It is easier to conceal and feels more balanced in my hand. I don't have many rounds through it yet, so my operating results are preliminary at best. But so far, the XDM has been extremely accurate, and I don't have any issues to report such as failures to feed or eject. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gun to anyone looking for a good home defense firearm.

I had to special order this weapon from BassPro. I tried it once from a friend and fell in love instantly. This is a well thought out well rounded weapon for its class. It fires with smooth precision everytime. I have had mine for three years, sometimes I will put 600 rounds through it in an afternoon at the range and the weapon performs flawlessly. The adjustable grips works very well for just about any size hand. I am happy they decided to ad it to their product line.

This is a great value for the money includes multiple blackstrap sizes to accommodate various hand sizes and grip feel, more than accurate enough for defense purposes and with practice and trigger control will out shoot most peoples skill levels, highly recommend.

I go to my .40 cal first simply because it is safe but it’s not necessary to think about a safety catch when you need to respond fast. The Springfield is a simple, yet complex weapon that brings 16+1 rounds to the fight. Once you handle and fire this sweetheart you will make it one of your favorites too.

Simple process of purchasing. Came as described! I had to switch my transfer location and there was no hassle at all. First time ordering but will definitely order with complete confidence.
