Taurus 856 Ultra-Lite Defender Stainless .38 Special +P 3" Barrel 6-Rounds

The 856 looks to be a very solid, well manufactured weapon. tolerances were in the acceptable range and lock up was tight. The trigger pull (double/single) was heavy so I installed a Galloway spring kit. Those two little springs make this a five star handgun.

Good feel in the hand, decent fit and finish. Firearm points naturally with grips provided from the factory. Trigger pull in double action is better than anticipated and will, no doubt, improve with use. Adequate accuracy for intended purpose and better than some others I’ve used with higher price points. Hard to find good quality holsters and speed loader are tricky to use quickly due to J sized frame, rubber grips, and six round cylinder.

Great backpack, snake pistol. The recoil may be a little too much for small framed people but it is a nice firearm. The grip fits both my large hand as well as my wife's petite hand. I wish they made the same model in a 22 LR or 22 Mag. Get the 3" barrel for best accuracy.

I bought it for my wife she loves it because of the lite weight carry in her purse although the standard grips must be replaced to account for the recoil but she is rather petite. She didn’t like the sw 856+ to heavy but now I have the 856. Lol

Pistol is light weight.....easy to conceal and carry. Fires all grain .38 special ammo. It is very accurate so far. Definitely would be out-gunned in a fire fight with a high capacity firearm, but is better than nothing.

Excellent weapon, barrel length is best combination of accuracy & for IWB holster concealed carry, six rounds capacity instead of 5, grip is controllable and comfortable +P rated .38 Spl. Taurus has lifetime warranty.
