Ultra-fast. Ultra-reliable. It’s no wonder the 85s are Taurus’s most popular family. They pack them with a combination of customer-requested features and pair them with the .38 Special +P ammo making them powerful, easy to carry and lightning-quick to use. To many of our friends in Law Enforcement, these are must-have backup revolvers.

Taurus Security System (TSS)
Taurus family of semi-auto pistols all feature the Taurus Security System, which provides instant-ready defense with built-in ability to secure your pistol and make it inoperable at the turn of a key. When the Security System is engaged, the pistol cannot be fired or cocked and the gun’s manual safety cannot be disengaged. As with our revolver Security System, the device is part of the firearm and cannot be lost, and the same special Security Key works for both the revolver and pistol Systems (two keys come with most guns). To engage: simply insert the Key into the button on the rear or side of the pistol and rotate one-quarter turn clockwise. This engages the Security System. The manual safety cannot be moved and the trigger cannot be pulled. To disengage: simply rotate the key one-quarter turn back. This releases the Security System, yet leaves the pistol’s manual safety in the “safe” position until you are ready to release it yourself and fire the gun.
Transfer Bar
The transfer bar mechanism prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled fully to the rear.

1 year agoI bought this little revolver on Sunday night and I had it in my hand at my FFL by Thursday afternoon. PSA has come through again like a boss! This is now the umpteenth purchase from PSA and I am yet to be disappointed. I saw the packaging from PSA and there was no way that handgun was going to be harmed during transport even if the guys at UPS had played football with the box. The gun itself is also great! I honestly thought I was going to get a older production model but instead I

1 year agoI wanted a .38 for back-up. This is a nice looking solid pistol at a good price. I know Taurus has had bad reviews in the past but I bought the PT111 M2 and it is wonderful. The Taurus Model 85 is everything I expected. It even has a keyed lock that disables it for storage. Nice weight and balance too. You will not be disappointed.

1 year agoFor the price you can't do any better. Fit and finish are great I could find no scuffs or tool marks and lockup is nice and tight. I didn't expect this level of quality for the price. Plus with a lifetime warranty you can't go wrong. PSA also shipped the gun within 2 hours of me placing my order.

1 year agoThis is a fine little gun and definitely a great value! Very simple straightforward operation everything works the way it is supposed to nothing fancy but it's all you need. Would be nice if it could take .357 ammo but for a budget price you can't have everything. I didn't find the double action trigger pull to be especially long or tight. I have small hands and it's a good fit. I found when first loading that one of the five chambers was just a little bit tight but I expect this to break

1 year agoI owned a couple of Taurus revolvers back in the early eighties. Not the greatest quality they were still usable and fairly reliable guns. This gun is of a much higher quality. Compact with a good heft this is more like a cut down Ruger Security Six than the S&W Chief's Special I used to own. The trigger pull is very smooth with both single and double action and the grips are very ergonomic with an ambidextrous thumb rest. The only down side is a fairly stiff cylinder release. You can't beat

1 year agoGrips are the newer version than the ones shown in the photo. Fit and finish on the gun is better than I was expecting. I was not able to find any tool marks or scratches on the gun. Trigger pull is very nice in both double and single action. Only complaint would be that the cylinder release is a little stiff. Fired about 50 rounds through the gun so far with no problems. Awesome gun for the money would definitely recommend.

1 year agoHave not fired it yet but the workmanship seems quite good for the price. I bought a Taurus PT-845 that had a hair trigger from Bud's Gun Shop a few years back and regretted buying it as it was dangerous but the trigger in this Model 85 seems fine. And fit and finish are fine. A nice carry piece for the car as I am CCW licensed.

1 year agoI like many others who have reviewed this weapon have found it to be an excellent buy The fit and finish is what you might expect from a revolver costing much more and the balance is really good My hands are fairly large so I installed a set of Houge grips They were very inexpensive and enabled me to get a full grip on the gun which really enhanced my control shooting paper plates at 20 feet I was really happy with the accuracy considering the short barrel. I really feel that anyone looking

1 year agoI had been needing some regular 38 caliber ammo for my old S&W. So... The wife surprised me with 100 rounds some two years ago that she purchased with good intentions which in reality was for a 38 Special by mistake. Owning ammo you cannot fire is way uglier in my book than owning a weapon that you cannot fire! When I held this little revolver for the first time I was most impressed with the quality the feel & the $250.00 dollar price point. She's sweet problem solved and I'm a "happy camper!" If you are in the market for this type of firearm... You will be too!
