2 years agoI bought this rifle for NRL22 competition, and it has performed admirably. There are modular pieces for the stock available from Baretta that modify the grip and forearm into more of a target configuration. I ran it in this configuration for a while but eventually dropped it into one of the many chassis systems available for it. After break in, with it's preferred ammo this rifle will turn out groups consistently better than 1 MOA (at fifty yards) with many of them between 0.6 and 0.75 MOA - many times it will make one ragged hole at 50 yards! The trigger on this rifle is one of the best factory triggers I have ever used. There is an adjustment screw for pull weight, and there is virtually no creep or overtravel. I have mine set to a little over a pound, just enough to ensure that the striker engages the sear reliably when the bolt is closed. There are aftermarket options available, but I have no reason to want to replace the factory trigger. The bolt movement on this rifle is very nice after a thousand rounds or so. There was a period of time where it was a little stiff when it was new, but it smoothed out quite nicely over time. The bolt lift is low, around 60° probably, and the throw is short allowing rounds to be cycled very quickly and with minimum disturbance to your shooting position. I have other bolt action rimfire rifles and this one is by far the smoothest and most polished bolt movement of any of them. There is a ton of aftermarket support for this rifle including scope rails, bolt handles, stocks and chassis, muzzle devices, triggers, etc. It enjoys a well deserved reputation for being one of the best factory options for NRL22 competitions. In my opinion, this rifle offers the best dollar-for-dollar performance of anything currently on the market. I'll probably get another one for my kids!

2 years agoI purchased this from Cabellas in Gainesville. Added a Crossfire II scope that was installed by Cabellas. Very happy with this purchase. It is a very smooth functioning and accurate rifle.

2 years agoI had read some reviews which were positive and I was in the market to buy a gun. It was between a CZ 457 or this one, well I'm not disappointed in the T1 X.I have a boatload of rimfires and I have never shot a new one out of the box as accurate as this gun.I had to check the 60 yd target because I couldn't see the holes, there were 2 and one was the size of a dime after 13 shots. This was after 20 or so break in shots with cci sv bullits. I got my CZ 452 out and didn't shoot any better.I nick named the gun T-REX

2 years agoFirstly, I've been target shooting and hunting with Tikka M55 since 1976, they are a beautiful calibre rifle, so well made and so easy to shoot and so accurate but, with these modern rifles, I find that those synthetic stocks for such a low calibre rifle are ridiculous as their balance are taken away from them, don’t get me wrong, I’m not against synthetic stocks but for this rifle it’s an overkill. I've been target shooting and hunting with my 1977 Tikka M55 with a wooden free floating stock, with light crisp custom trigger, bridge mount with 1" rings for years and these rifles in the .17 calibre are excellent and would be just as good as this Tikka T1x with great groupings. I also found that the 20 grains do shoot the best groupings and are very efficient for hunting. Btw, I bought the M55 in those days for AUS $150 (US $105 or EUR 94.00) and at $468.00 they are still the bargain that they were in 1976, great rifles.

2 years agoAmazing rifle! Tikka trigger and quality. Took it out and found whatever they use for protectant is really hard to get off and it didn't start grouping well untill it got a few heat cycles through it. (around 100 rounds and lots of Kroil) After that look out! 10 shot sight in group @50 yds is one ragged hole just using a tack driver bag off the hood of my jeep w 15.5 gr Hornady ntx. I also purchased Talley CZ 11mm low rings from Euro Optic and was able to fit a Burris 4.5-14x42 E1 side focus w enough room under scope to fit a dollar bill but not a business card ;) and the eye relief-cheek weld is spot on. I also found a perfect use for my old T3 recoil pad. I bought a t3x pad but the t3 pad is firmer, a little shorter w a nice curve that fits the rifle perfect. My 2nd Tikka from Euro optic and their customer service is awesome!

2 years agoI bought one of the first T1x in 22 LR when they first became available. I liked it so well I decided I also had to have one in 17 HMR. I discovered none were available anywhere in the country. I got on Eurooptics wait list. After several weeks I got e-mail from them that my model was available. I ordered online immediately and they got my rifle shipped out same day. The rifle was at my transfer FFL in 3 days; excellent service. I cleaned the rifle good, adjusted trigger to 2 inch lbs pull weight, mounted scope and headed to range with a half dozen different types of ammo to test. In summary the rifle performed flawlessly and accuracy was very good with all ammo. I shot best group from mine with CCI 20 grain Gamepoint. I absolutely love this rifle. I have found it to be superior in performance to 3 very high end rim fires I own that cost 3 times as much. Wont state make in this review. Improvements I would like to see: a wood stock pillar bedded version with a 4 to 5 shot magazine that fits flush with bottom of stock. I would buy such a configuration in a heartbeat if available. The only negative thought i have about this rifle is the funky look of the magazine protruding below the stock. I’m obviously a traditionalist and I personally like a rifle with very classic lines. Don’t think I’m alone here. i have seen several serious shooters look at this rifle and cull because of this magazine protrusion. I’m just glad I had chance to shoot before I made same mistake. It has become my favorite rim fire rifle.

2 years agoThe Tikka T1X is a very well-built rifle and I enjoy shooting it. I mounted a Sniper 6-24X50 scope on it.

2 years agoRifle accuracy is exceptional, trigger is excellent, stock was ok but I replaced it with a boyds. It is my opinion that a build in picatinne scope mount would be an improvement. I put one on. the Bolt handle was a bit short for my preference and I found myself using fingers instead of my palm so I replaced that with a tactical type bolt handle and I very much like that. Last item is the plastic threet protector on the barrel was super cheap and I replaced that as well. Overall I absolutely

2 years agoVery accurate. Trigger is great. After sighting in I got 5 10 shot groups under 1 inch at 100 yds using Win. 15.5gr NTX. The stock is almost exactly the same as my Tikka T3x 6.5 CM but with a smaller recoil pad. I put the same scope on it as my T3x so shooting off a bench rest is almost identical ergonomics. The bolt action is nice and smooth, though not the silky smooth action of a T3X but of course both size and design of the bolt is different for rimfire.

1 year agoGood balance, suppressor ready, took it out after installing a scope and only used 5 shots to get it dialed in to a 150 yard zero. Only dislike that I have is the buttstock seems a little short.

1 year agoJust a great rifle. Really nice groups on every ammo that I've put through it. If you want a 17, this is the one! I use it as a trainer for my t3x, as the stock is the exact same form factor, it kicks a LOT less than a 30-06, and of course ammo is much cheaper!

1 year agoGreat Rifle Definitely pleased with the customer service at the Asheville store. Couldn't have asked for better. I was buying the incorrect ammo for the Tikka, if the salesman didn't mention to me I had picked up the wrong ammo. I could have damaged the gun. Very thankful for that input.

1 year agoMy first Tikka T1X. It took a long time to find one in 17HMR and it was worth the wait! Great out of the box trigger, quality & accuracy. I mounted a scope on it, cleaned the barrel, took 5 boxes of different ammo and shot it. ALL groups were TIGHT, action is smooth, ejector flawless. Used a .17 Bore Snake between groups for proper barrel break in. It has quickly become my favorite 17HMR! Thank-You Sportsman's Warehouse for getting it in time for my Birthday!!

1 year agoAccurate and precise little rifle, I don’t got the best of scopes, and it gets extreme right grouping at 100 yards. Installed a at-one stock to give it a unique look. Love the fact that the factory trigger you can adjust the pull. Once I gather enough change going to buy the .22LR version.

1 year agoWhen I first got the rifle I pulled the barreled action out of the stock and cleaned it well. Upon inspection I noted the T1x uses a lot more plastic and cast parts than the T3x, which concerned me a bit. After shooting it for the first time, all concerns were alleviated. The rifle is 100% reliable and an absolute tack driver within its effective range. Due to time constraints, the only ammo I've tried is Federal Premium 17gr V-max, but it easily makes the 1 MOA @ 50 yard accuracy guarantee

1 year agoIn mid range guns, that is under $1000 the Tikka T1X is number one value. It shoots as well in terms of accuracy as anything costing double and even a bit more. Nothing in this price range is as good. Hunting is a joy as it built to be a featherweight field gun. Add a quality scope and you are set for the field or range. Worth the money.
