Traditions .50Cal Kentucky Black Powder Pistol

I'M NOW LOOKING FOR A SMALL KIT TO TRY TO SHOOT THIS GUN, AS I'VE NOT HAD A BLACK POWDER GUN BEFORE.

If you need to feel like "Rambo" this is not the gun for you. If you enjoy the pleasure of shooting this is an excellent addition to to your collection.

A couple things are wrong with this pistol. Most important, it shoots two feet high at 30 yards. This wouldn't be a problem if the sights were adjustable but I have a feeling they put the wrong rear sight on mine. Second, the ramrod is extremely cheap and fragile. Third, the trigger rattles back and forth until you pull the hammer all the way back. Fourth, the flat head screw groove on the side of the nipple is starting to strip on me. Finally, I can not find an adequate holster for this weapon

I purchased this Pistol even after reading the privious review,triger has a lot of play but does not interfeer with the actuall triger pull or function,over all happy with the purchase shoots nice not the most acurate but was on the paper at 25,30 and 40 yrds.shooting lead bally with 25 gr.BP.Needs better sights.But nicely made nice finish.

good shooter. Nose cap screws are much too short to grab. I changed screws so they would be longer. You can call Traditions in Connecticut and they will tell you the specs on the screws. You can most likely get them at Ace Hardware. Rifling in barrel is good for a conical bullet. This thing will reach out and grab a target with conical bullets such as a .50 cal maxi ball sometimes mentioned on Ebay for a bullet mold or make it shotgun with 32 cal balls to get rid of snakes, etc.

First thing shipping was a day early,Great,Gun looked great nice finish,very nice,triger is not tight little lose,but that's just part of the desighn does not interfer with shooting at all,went to the range shoots good,pretty acurate at 25yrds.with 24grain of BP,.490 lead ball,It seems to shoot better after about 10-15 shots.Easy to clean.Very Happy.

Great pistol. Very fun to shoot. The only problem that I encountered so far is, the bolster clean out screw is very delicate and will round out very easily. Use caution when removing for the first time, then coat the threads with anti-sieze compound along with the nipple threads.

Great pistol for the money. Very fun to shoot. The only complaint is the barrel clean out screw next to the nipple is made of too soft of a metal and will strip out easily.

I wanted either a Trapper or a Kentucky pistol for a while. The ones in the store had defects but the Kentucky only had a bent trigger guard. It looks like it was bent to fit into the handle. The Trapper was worst. I still like it however. Hope it shoots well.

Looked for something to do when bored. Spent a couple of weeks off and on and took the time to carefully sand, shape and fit all parts. Stained with red Oak and Minwax. Be prepared to sand and work the wood with care, fit all parts before you finish the wood. There may be more wood need be removed than it appears. I chose to shape the stock for my hands. I blued the metal parts rather than browning as some do. Brass pieces are pretty close to finished but they can be improved with fine steel

Everything arrived in good shape. The only thing is when you sent the pistol you didn«t add to my address the Unit 5 so the delivery was delayed until I gave the unit number. Since there are 19 units where I live it would be impossible to make a delivery. Another thing is that the pistol has ramrod, but there isn«t any way to screw in cleaning rods to clean the pistol. I had lots of fun building this kit in 1974. I take it to the range every year and always get lots of comments by people asking me if this was my great grandparents pistol. Most people think that this is a very old antique Kentucky pistol especially when it makes a crack sound like a cannon. You will not be disappointed with this 50 cal Kentucky percussion pistol!

I absolutely love this gun. It's my first black powder gun me and my dad spent hours shooting it. Has to be my new favorite gun to go shooting with. The gentleman at sportsman was very knowledgeable and helped me find everything I needed. If you're looking into getting a black powder gun I'd strongly recommend the 50. Kentucky.
