I'm in my mid-50's and have been around shotguns my entire life. 1100, A5, SP10... you name it. I can break them down and put them together quickly. And I'm just saying taking the barrel off and on... nothing fancy. So I pick this up for my daughter as she doesn't hunt much and it was light. We hunt geese in KS so I wanted the ability to shoot 3.5. Anyway, I pick up the gun, bring it home and proceeded to spend the next hour trying to put the darn barrel on! Read the manual, googled it, you name it. No luck and the barrel and action kept getting stuck. Finally, had enough and took it back to Bass Pro where it was shipped too. It took 4 guys in the gun dept to finally figure out how to get the barrel on. Then they tried to take it back off! Another 15 minutes!! At the end of the day you have to "shake and shimmy it". Something that should take, literally seconds to do took 5 grown men (all experienced hunters) a combined 90 minutes to figure out!!! Well, since its not returnable, I decided to follow directions and cycle a box of 3.5 mags through it. Well, it didn't take long for it not to eject the shells cleanly (2d round of 3 shots didn't cycle) and at about the 16'th shell the action froze halfway back and doesn't move. It's like welded in place. So, I have an empty shell in the barrel as the action is frozen about and 2 shells in the chamber. Knowing I was defeated, I took a deep breath, came home and ordered a Browning Silver like I should've from day one. Beware. Value = cheap. The trigger mechanism is plastic, and it takes a significant amount of force to take the safety off. When birds are cupped the last thing, you want to do is mess around with trying to getting the safety off especially if you're only going to get 1 or 2 shots because the gun doesn't eject. Going to call Tri-Star as this has to be a lemon. But I will refuse to send it back (because you pay for shipping) unless they agree to send me back a brand new one. Doubt that will happen so I will try to sell what is a brand-new gun for $200-$300 and kick myself for breaking my rule of "You get what you pay for". The Biys on Heartland Waterfowl need to dump this company... stat!

I was pleasantly surprised. Unlike others who write negative reviews because they are "experts" with shotguns. I actually have read the directions and broke mine in properly with the magnum shells. I have had an issue yet and this is my second turkey season. Maybe I am lucky.

I have bought 2 Tristar shotguns in a 2 year period and Tristar is an awful gun to buy they break to easily and jam all the time. Buy something else not worth the money. I have a benelli super black eagle 3 that hasn’t jammed or stopped working for me.
