West MI Ryan
1 year agoMy young daughter and I used this round out of a 16" barrel for whitetails here in Michigan a few years back. She placed a perfect 125 yard vitals shot on a first year small buck and we found the round did not expand hardly at all. A long frustrating track later we found the bullet acted like a FMJ at that distance. I believe this round is topped with the same thicker walled bullet used in .308 win, 30-06, etc. The lower power in the 300 BO rounds don't seem to get this to the speed needed for proper performance. We switched to a 125 grain HP in more recent years for my kids and that does much better at 100 yard "ish" distances. It may work fine for closer ranges or in longer barrels, but this was my experience.
