Winchester Repeating Arms Xpert 22 Bolt Action Rifle 22 LR 18" Barrel 10 Rounds Gray

This thing is accurate out of the box with its stock sight. I tested it at 25 and 30 metres ranges and while it shot about 2 inches to the left, and 3 inches high, the group was very tight about 4 square inches (sitting down and the rifle was rested on the bench). (When I off-handed it, the group was about 6 inches wide at 25 metres). I adjusted the sight and the group simply moved to the centre as expected. With a scope (cheap Tasco one), this thing was producing holes that were touching each other at those ranges, all within 1 inch square at all ranges up to 30 metres. I then tested it at 50 metres. The group did not widen. I did not have a target set up at 185 metres, but there was a small metal plate set up (about 10 inches diametre). And it had no problem ringing that plate at 185 metres (range verified by a range finder).

I really liked the wildcat so I thought I would give this a try. I made sure to test the stock open sight before putting a scope on. It was reasonably accurate. I felt like this rifle would have been more accurate for me if it came with the same peep sight as the Wildcat. But the sight is adequate... I would say 2 inch groups at 25 yards. Then I put a scope on and that is when things changed. Less than 1 inch square at 25 yards and then 50 yards. Holes all touching each other with CCI mini mags. I tested some cheaper CCI blazer as well. They worked just fine (a little more open than the mini mags, I found but still very accurate). Since I had a scope on it, I did test it out to 200 yards on a good day with little to no wind. It had no problem hitting a 8x8 inch wide target and that is with a cheap rimfire scope at x4 mag. I also like the fact that it uses the same magazine as the Wildcat (which means also Ruger 10/22). I am all for interchangeability. This is also the kinda rifle with the pricing and polymer stock with which I would not feel bad taking it out in the mud and snow.

This gun shot straight on bullseye right out of the box. After several hundred rounds through it without any problems, I am happy with it, especially the superb trigger that it has. No creep, no over-travel, and 4 pound pull! With my old eyesight I sight at only 25 yards and lean over the car’s hood to shoot, but it will hit a dime for me!

Excellent 22. I have the wildcat and this bolt action version is just as great. Accurate and light plus that trigger is super nice. Very very impressed. You need to go get one of these.
