This Defender is The Defender. It can handle buckshot or rifled slugs efficiently through the fully chrome plated, 18 inches fixed cylinder choked barrel (no constriction) for wide patterning. This open choke is also very accurate when using Foster-type slugs. It also has non-glare metal surfaces with a tough composite stock and forearm. Additional features include a five-shot magazine (plus one in the chamber), and a positive, deeply grooved forearm for control and stability. Whether it’s multi-gun competition or protecting your home and family, the Super X Pump Defender is the perfect choice. Its inertia-assisted action, six-shell total ammo capacity, durable composite stock and ribbed forearm give you an edge against any odds. Synthetic stock with textured gripping surfaces, ribbed forearm, hard chrome-plated chamber and bore, fixed cylinder choke, rotary bolt, black chrome bolt.

Features:

  • Stocks are profiled for an ideal fit
  • The advanced, high-strength alloy receiver is much lighter than steel
  • The rugged rotary bolt design engages the barrel extension instead of the top of the receiver
  • The inflex technology recoil pad utilizes directional deflection and a soft durometer for maximum comfort
  • Convenient push button safety
  • Faster pump-action, inertia assists you as you pump the forearm rearward to load for the next shot
  • Most Super X pump hunting models are fitted with the InvectorPlus interchangeable choke system, it allows you to change choke constriction to the demands of the game being hunted or your shooting situation
  • Synthetic stock with textured gripping surfaces gives your hands a sure, non-slip grip and the non-glare matte black finish won’t give away your position
  • Tactical ribbed forearm for better control when you need it most
  • Hard chrome-plated chamber and bore make these surfaces highly resistant to wear and corrosion
  • Fixed cylinder choke barrel handles both slugs and buckshot
  • Alloy receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases
  • Traditional brass bead front sight offers a fast, natural sight picture
  • Drop-out trigger group allows for easy cleaning
  • Crossbolt safety is easily operated, even with gloves
  • Black chrome protection on the bolt and other components lasts longer than traditional bluing
  • Inflex technology recoil pad directs felt recoil down and away from your cheek to reduce flinch and fatigue

I do like the product but was unable to cycle the gun had to work on it to get it to cycle. After short trip to the shop fired 25 rounds without a hitch.

I bought this shotgun about a week ago, and I love it, it feels great on the hands, the only issue I see, is the stock it might be a little long for some. I can shoulder it ok, but if you have short arms it might be a problem.

Bought the Defender for bear defence. Have spent countless hours at the range and always impressed at how accurate this shotgun has been. I have shot 12 gauge bangers, non lethal batons, Non lethal slugs and stars, All types of lead/steel shot and slugs. Had a jamming issue only once as the barrel came loose which was my fault. This is an inexpensive, robust, dependable and accurate shot gun. My next one will be the stainless marine model.

I doubt there’s a better made shotgun for the price. Regardless of the price it shoots absolutely beautifully and I would recommend this to anyone who prioritizes reliability.

My son and I took our SXP Defender we just bought out too Mission Rod and Gun club and holy bejeezus, using rifled slugs the blast and kick was intense. Just make sure to grip that foregrip or it’ll jump out of your hand.

Great gun for the money. Flawless mechanics, only wish that the buttstock was a bit more solid. Feels cheap. Also, since it’s a tactical shotgun, offering accessories made for the gun would be nice.

Found this on sale on Cabela's website for a great price. Ordered online and selected my closest store to pick it up. I got the email the next morning that it had arrived, so I went to pick it up. They were ready for me and helped me get the paperwork done in short order. Very efficient process on Cabela's part. The gun itself was still boxed and brand new, as expected. Have nothing but good things to say about its performance thus far, but time will tell. No reason to think it won't be anything but 100% reliable and a great bargain at the price it was available at. Overall, I couldn't be happier with Cabela's as well as the Winchester. A+ all the way around.

I'm very pleased with the performance of the Winchester XSP. I've had a blast shooting over a hundred rounds of 1 oz slugs with Flawless action.

I like this shotgun for home protection and field. Light, minimal recoil. Fired over 160 rounds without issue. Easy to disassemble/clean, uses minimal tools. Great gun. Wish it was made in U.S.A.

Works great if you only load 2 shells. Any more and it will double feed and jam. Just understand this before buying. Winchester will not fix this for you either, they will tell you it's your fault and the gun works great. I would go with literally any other shotgun before this one.

This is my first shotgun and I absolutely love it. I am sure there are better ones but so far so good.

Just bought it, absolute crap. It came without a manual, barrel doesn't go on, when you try to take it off it's stuck. This is the hardest I've ever had to try to shoot one round. If I could return it, I would. Winchester will never get a penny from me again, the fact bass pro sold a firearm without a manual (which is illegal) they will also never see a penny again. Go to a different store, don't get a winchester. $330 paper weight.

Be sure to research products before you buy. The winchester sxp is prone to break. The magazine throat is made of 1mm thick plastic and broke on me the first time I took it hunting. I mailed it in to get repaired under warranty and sold it as soon as I got it back. They don't build them like they used to. Lesson learned. Don't buy guns with plastic parts, and don't buy from manufacturers that cheap out with plastic parts. Fyi, broken magazine throat means it won't load a round

Got this 20 gauge pump for home defense because of its lighter weight and shorter length than other brands. I added a light and extra shell carrier and it also fits nicely into the same security container as my AR15. The operation is smooth and with 2 3/4" #3 buckshot my wife can handle it better than my 12 gauge. I may add a red dot sight(it is already drilled and tapped) for use at distance with slugs. But for now the bead is so easy to pick up I am leaving it as is.

They aren't too bad for today's standards but all these plastic parts aren't made for a Reliable Defender. We have pretty much been lied to, the power of a 12G shotgun depending on what ammo you use is closer to a .50Caliber CQB Weapon then any other gun besides the odd smaller MilSpec Sniper rounds they use for closer distances or situations that don't warrant a 50Cal round , like .338LPM and the .408 Cheytac BDR 305 Grain and some older rounds like 30-06 or a M60 slinging the full power of a 308. Most newer shotguns fail the crazy dumb stress and strength test of putting a .50BMG through a 12guage. My old Winny Speed Pump Defender is pure steel and metal minus the rubber around the grip and I "think" it would definately live and be able to keep going slinging max power slugs no problem.

Good 'no frills' tried and true Winchester firearm. One suggestion: A decorative red bead sight would go a long way and help in low light applications, without having to wade through a multitude of optical choices that are probably more suited for Tactical Variety firearms.

I haven't shot it yet I'm sure that won't be an issue. It feels good and is well built. My issue, and why 3 stars, is the fore-end release. It's a push button on the left side behind the trigger guard. If I'm out in the field hunting game it wouldn't be an issue, but this is a tactical shotgun. In a, "oh crap" moment it's too awkward to push sideways and rack compared to a mossy push up. Then is the safety, which I knew was also a push sideways - again a 500 or 590 with safety on top is so much … Read More

If you’re looking for a basic shotgun that is both reliable and won’t break the bank, the SXP so a great choice. Nice fit and finish, fairly accurate, and nice extras included in the box. The only negative is the synthetic stock gets slippery when wet so make sure you have a firm handle and a sling.

I had really high expectations for the Winchester SXP, and this shotgun far exceeded my expectations! The aesthetics of it are beautiful, with rich wood and nice engraving, this shotgun is one to keep in the family for multiple generations. The performance was incredible also. It’s lightweight, but doesn’t seem to have a strong kick, even for my w...Read More Read more about review stating SXP - The perfect shotgun, for me!
